John Oehser, of Colts.com, reports Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy says the evaluation process for rookie WR Roscoe Crosby could take longer than it does for the typical rookie. Crosby signed with the Colts following the Supplemental Draft. "Roscoe Crosby is going to be an interesting story," Dungy said. "He's got some skills and he's got a real strong body. Obviously not being with us in minicamp and summer school makes it a little bit difficult, but with him, we've got to look to the future and see if he's got enough spark and enough things that are going to help him down the road. It's going to be a learning curve for him, but he's working at it and coming along, and so far, he's been impressive."

Patrick Obley, of The State, reports Indianapolis Colts WR Roscoe Crosby will be in Indianapolis Friday, July 15, to complete a physical and sign his multi-year contract. He then will return to Columbia to continue his conditioning program. He will join the Colts in training camp July 27. "He gets a chance to play with QB Peyton Manning and learn under WRs Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne," said Kevin Parker, Crosby's advisor. "They put the ball up every now and then."

The Associated Press reports WR Roscoe Crosby, who was not selected in today's supplemental draft, is confident he will be signed as a free agent. Soon after the news came that Crosby wasn't picked, he says he heard from several teams interested in signing him as a free agent. "I'm not disappointed at all," said Crosby. "Teams called me right away and now I have to decide." His advisor, Kevin Parker, said they may decide on a team as early as Friday.

Updating previous reports, the Associated Press reports the Carolina Panthers were the only team on-hand at WR Roscoe Crosby's workout Tuesday, July 12. Adviser Kevin Parker said Crosby has talked with several NFL teams in advance of the supplemental draft. "It's always a guessing game, but we've done our part," Parker said. Crosby was relieved to have the workout portions behind him and is confident he'll get a chance in an NFL training camp.

Patrick Obley, of the State, reports supplemental draft candidate WR Roscoe Crosby (Clemson) completed another workout for scouts Tuesday, July 12. He completed his receiving drills by demonstrating a strong burst off the line and catching everything QB Shaun King threw. In addition to showing what he can do on the field, Crosby has had to answer tough questions from scouts concerning his background. Crosby said it was a breach-of-contract arbitration battle with the Royals that kept him out of action following Clemson's 2003 season opener against Georgia. Reportedly, the Carolina Panthers, the New Orleans Saints and the New York Giants are the front-runners among the 17 teams that attended Crosby's pro day July 1.

He hopes to be picked in Thursday's supplemental draft. The Chiefs spent part of the summer looking for receiving help and Crosby may be an intriguing draft possibility.

Updating previous reports, the Associated Press reports former Clemson WR Roscoe Crosby held a workout in front of 17 NFL scouts Friday, July 1. Crosby is 6-foot-2, 218 pounds. After Crosby's weight workouts, one scout confirmed that Crosby lifted 225 pounds 18 times, the group shifted to the field for outdoor workouts. Crosby ran a pair of 40-yard sprints and while no one would talk about the times, a scout from the Carolina Panthers said the first was in the mid 4.4s and the other in the high 4.4s. After he caught a couple of passes from free agent QB Shaun King, Crosby went off to the side as trainers stretched out his legs. Soon after, one of Crosby's agents, Kevin Parker, gathered scouts to let them know that Crosby's workout was done. "It was disappointing, especially when I got out to the field because I thought I was rolling with all the drills and stuff like that," Crosby said. "Then the heat got me going. I really didn't want to risk it. It can lead to other injuries like a knee injury. So I called the doctor over."

It is unlikely Dallas would pick him before the sixth round, but there have been discussions in the scouting department about where he fits in the draft and how he compares to the receivers in the 2006 draft.

Patrick Obley, of The State, reports WR Roscoe Crosby, about to enter the NFL's supplemental draft, worked out for NFL scouts Friday, June 10. Free agent QB Shaun King was his quarterback. Crosby caught everything King threw to him. Crosby turned in a 4.37-second time in the 40-yard dash after doing 17 repetitions at 225 pounds. Crosby said the performance was a vast improvement on his previous workout, but there still was room for improvement prior to the July 14 NFL supplemental draft. "I was just hoping to put up better numbers than I did in Clemson," he said. "I had a lot more time to prepare. I want to get to 22 reps and 4.3 on my time." King compared Crosby favorably with WR Anquan Boldin, a teammate this past year with the Arizona Cardinals.

The Spartanburg Herald-Journal reports Clemson WR Roscoe Crosby is applying to enter the NFL through the supplemental draft. "It's been a difficult road for me, but I've always wanted to be a professional athlete," Crosby said. "I've been really happy with my progress, so that's what led to the decision." The supplemental draft is typically held a week before July training camps begin. Crosby is 6-foot-3, 208 pounds. If Crosby isn't selected, he will become a free agent and can sign with any team. Crosby has been playing minor league baseball and has not stepped on the football field since 2001. Crosby said he will hold a workout for pro scouts at an undetermined date close to the supplemental draft. Crosby did work out in front of scouts at Clemson's pro day March 17. He missed the deadline to declare early entry into April's draft because he was involved in an arbitration case with the Kansas City Royals.
