Megan Manfull and John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, report Houston Texans OT Victor Riley continues to get more work at left tackle in practice. Riley, an eight-year veteran who started at right tackle for the New Orleans Saints the last two seasons, is competing with OT Seth Wand for the starting job next to OG Chester Pitts. "Victor's such a large man that when he gets on his man, he just engulfs him," head coach Dom Capers said about the 6-5, 335-pound Riley. "Victor just covers them up, and once he does that, the defensive players have a hard time getting off of him."

Wed, 03 Aug 2005 20:28:48 -0700

Semaj Marsh, of HoustonTexans.com, reports Houston Texans OTs Seth Wand and Victor Riley have been splitting reps at left tackle with the first-team offense thus far during training camp. The battle between Wand and Riley for the vacant left tackle job will be one of the most fiercely contested position fights of the summer. "We see it as a competitive situation," head coach Dom Capers said. "We'll continue to monitor it through our practices and the preseason games, and at some point and time we'll make a decision. One thing I do know is that we're stronger at that position than we were a year ago."

The 6-foot-5 player first reported at 345 pounds, but has since shed 12 pounds. "We gave him a reporting weight and he was under that reporting weight," Capers said.
