Fifteen modern-day finalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame were announced Saturday, Jan. 7, and they are joined by two senior nominees. A selection committee in Indianapolis will meet in Indianapolis Feb. 4 to determine the 2012 Hall of Fame class. RB Jerome Bettis (Steelers), WR Tim Brown (Raiders), , CB Jack Butler (senior - Steelers), WR Cris Carter (Eagles, Vikings), C Dermontti Dawson (Steelers), owner Edward DeBartolo Jr. (49ers), DL/LB Chris Doleman (Vikings, Falcons, 49ers), LB/DL Kevin Greene (Rams, Steelers, Panthers), DL/LB Charles Haley (49ers, Cowboys), DL Cortez Kennedy (Seahawks), RB Curtis Martin (Patriots, Jets), head coach Bill Parcells (Giants, Patriots, Jets, Cowboys), WR Andre Reed (Bills), OT Willie Roaf (Chiefs), OG Will Shields (Chiefs), OG Dick Stanfel (senior - Lions, Redskins) and CB Aeneas Williams (Cardinals, Rams) are the finalists.

The Associated Press reports San Francisco 49ers WR Isaac Bruce caught seven passes for 61 yards and one touchdown in the team's Week 16 game. During the game, he became the fifth player in NFL history to reach 1,000 career receptions. He also moved into second place on the all-time receiving yard list with 14,936 yards, passing former NFL WR Tim Brown.

Jerry McDonald, of the Contra Costa Times, reports former Oakland Raiders WR Tim Brown has an interest in returning to the team in a management role. "The love I get when I'm in Oakland, that's home for me," said Brown. "I realize that, and if the Raiders ever asked me to do anything in the front office, certainly I would jump at the opportunity because I do think, not just my presence in Oakland, but in some of the decision making as far as what's happening with coaches and players that come in, I think I could be very instrumental in helping in that area."

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed practice squad OL Tim Brown to a future contract. It was a two-year contract with base salaries of $235,000 (2006) and $310,000 (2007).

John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans rookie DL Travis Johnson got into another fight in practice with OT Tim Brown. It was the second time they've fought, and head coach Dom Capers fines players $500 per fight. Johnson didn't seem too concerned about his second fight and the $1,000 fine. "That's $1,000 I don't have yet," Brown said. "He's the No. 1 pick, and he can afford it."
