Matthew Barrow, of the Sacramento Bee, reports San Francisco 49ers WR Otis Amey practiced returning punts at practice Friday, June 2. He was one of four to do so. "Otis is a competitive guy," head coach Mike Nolan said. "He's not as flashy as some of these other guys, but he's competitive."

The Sacramento Bee reports San Francisco 49ers WR Otis Amey may be permanently moved to defensive back and that's just fine with Amey. "That wouldn't be a problem," Amey said this week. "Anything I can do to help the team, any special teams. Any offense, defense, any position, wherever they'll have me - defensive back, safety, corner, wherever - I'd be more than willing to play." In discussing the move, both head coach Mike Nolan and Amey pointed to New England Patriots WR Troy Brown, who last season was asked to play defensive back after injuries decimated the unit.
