Bears | Robbie Gould sets franchise record

Chicago Bears PK Robbie Gould was successful on a 57-yard field goal attempt in Week 14 against the Denver Broncos, and that set a franchise record. The old record holders were former PKs Kevin Butler and Bob Thomas, who each had successful 55-yard field goals. Gould came into the game Sunday, Dec. 11, with an 83.3 percent accuracy on field goals of 50-plus yards, best in the NFL over the past three years.

Chicago Bears PK Robbie Gould is perfect on all five of his field goal attempts from beyond 50 yards this season after going 5-for-9 from that distance in the first six seasons of his career. He is currently the third most accurate kicker in NFL history with an 86.3 success rate. If he makes his next four kicks, he will surpass San Diego Chargers PK Nate Kaeding for the top spot.

Bears | Robbie Gould moves up franchise scoring list

Chicago Bears PK Robbie Gould had three field goals (51, 38, 22) and three extra points in the Week 9 win against the Philadelphia Eagles Monday, Nov. 7. Gould moved past Hall of Famer RB Walter Payton into second place with 757 points on the team's all-time scoring list. He trails only PK Kevin Butler, who finished with 1,116 points.

Chicago Bears PK Robbie Gould missed a pair of field goals in the preseason opener Saturday, Aug. 13, against the Buffalo Bills. He made a 45-yard field goal midway through the fourth quarter for the team's only score.

With the NFL lockout entering its fifth month, Chicago Bears PK Robbie Gould, the team's player representative, believes there's still hope training camp will begin on time. "We're not going to miss the season," Gould said. "The players want to get a settlement done, but they're not going to take an unfair settlement. And if we miss a season, that's really unfortunate. I think at the end of the day, when you get a group of people in the rooms working like they're working to get a deal done, a settlement will be reached and we will be playing football. It's just as to what date we're going to be back and when."

Chicago Bears DE Israel Idonije, TE Greg Olsen, PK Robbie Gould, DL Matt Toeaina, CB D.J. Moore, OG Johan Asiata and FB Eddie Williams were among the players working out at the team's complex Friday, April 29.

The team plans to begin their voluntary offseason workout program Monday, May 9, and will start mandatory minicamps for rookies the following weekend. The entire squad will report for minicamp from June 3-5.

Chicago Bears PK Robbie Gould likely will be helped by the new kickoff rules because he has an escalator in his contract that kicks in if he records a certain amount of touchbacks. Gould would make an extra $62,500 if he records at least eight touchbacks next season.

Bears | McGee coming on board

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports P Richmond McGee will join the Chicago Bears in training camp Friday, July 31. He is expected to sign a one-year contract. McGee can also handle kicking duties, and will be a backup to P Brad Maynard and PK Robbie Gould.
