Patriots | Nate Washington let go

Wed, 24 Aug 2016 07:02:41 -0700

New England Patriots WR Nate Washington was released Wednesday, Aug. 24.

Fantasy Tip: Washington is long in the tooth, but he could still latch on somewhere and be worth a late WR5 flyer in PPR leagues.

Patriots | Four WR spots set in New England

Tue, 02 Aug 2016 20:27:40 -0700

New England Patriots WRs Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Danny Amendola and Malcolm Mitchell are considered locks as the top four wide receivers. The team is expected to keep one or two more receivers from a list that includes WRs DeAndre Carter, Aaron Dobson, Chris Harper, Devin Lucien, Keshawn Martin and Nate Washington. Dobson has reportedly looked good in training camp so far, but the fact he doesn't play special teams might hurt his chances. Martin received a $600K fantasy bonus in January, so he might be the favorite for the No. 5 job.

Fantasy Tip: Edelman and Amendola will be the top fantasy options, while Hogan and Mitchell are worth fliers in leagues with deeper rosters. The others have little to no fantasy appeal, although if injuries open up more prominent roles the No. 5 or 6 receivers could emerge later.

Patriots | Nate Washington a 'longshot' for roster spot

Sun, 31 Jul 2016 13:08:20 -0700

New England Patriots WR Nate Washington (undisclosed) will need to be "lights out when he gets healthy" and will probably require an injury to a receiver ahead of him on the depth chart in order to secure a roster spot this summer, according to beat reporter Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.

Fantasy Tip: Washington, who is not practicing with the team, reportedly struggled to get on the same page as Tom Brady during spring workouts. With Julian Edelman, Danny Amendola, Chris Hogan, Malcolm Mitchell and special-teams ace Matthew Slater all locks or near-locks to make the final roster, Washington has his work cut out for him. Even if he finds another landing spot, he's a WR5 at best in fantasy.

Patriots | Nate Washington sits out

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 08:42:38 -0700

New England Patriots WR Nate Washington (undisclosed) is out of practice Friday, July 29.

Fantasy Tip: The grizzled vet is battling for a roster spot, but he doesn't have fantasy luster at this time.

Patriots | Nate Washington has struggled

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 12:14:48 -0700

New England Patriots WR Nate Washington had trouble getting on the same page as QB Tom Brady during organized team activities. He's at risk of missing the final roster if he does not impress at training camp.

Fantasy Tip: As stated earlier, even if Washington does make the team he'll be the No. 5 wide receiver at best. He can be avoided for the time being in fantasy drafts.

Patriots | Several Pats receivers on bubble

Mon, 27 Jun 2016 12:02:35 -0700

New England Patriots WRs Keshawn Martin, Aaron Dobson, Nate Washington and Chris Harper are all considered to be on the roster bubble by Paul Perillo of patriots.com. Perillo added that the mostly likely scenario is Martin, Dobson and Washington battling for one or two roster spots.

Fantasy Tip: Dobson and Martin probably have an edge for now, but none of them have much fantasy value as the Patriots' No. 5 wide receiver at best.

Patriots | Jimmy Garoppolo works with starters

Sat, 11 Jun 2016 17:15:50 -0700

New England Patriots QB Jimmy Garoppolo split first-team reps QB Tom Brady during a three-day minicamp, and WR Nate Washington said that Garoppolo understands the offense.

Fantasy Tip: Garoppolo could be forced into action with Brady facing a four-game suspension. His long-term value is limited, but he could be a potential DFS sleeper if Brady does miss games.

Patriots | Nate Washington still a deep threat

Thu, 09 Jun 2016 19:17:37 -0700

New England Patriots WR Nate Washington still has the speed to stretch the field, and he could fill New England's need for an outside deep threat.

Fantasy Tip: Washington may connect on a big play from time to time, but he is unlikely to have the consistent production needed to be a worthwhile fantasy option.

Patriots | Nate Washington could be cut

Mon, 09 May 2016 11:21:54 -0700

New England Patriots WR Nate Washington is not a lock for the final roster, in the opinion of ESPNBoston.com's Mike Reiss. Reiss indicated that only WRs Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Danny Amendola and Malcolm Mitchell are locks for the 53-man roster.

Fantasy Tip: It's interesting that a veteran like Washington wouldn't be a guarantee in the Patriots' relatively shallow receiver corps, especially considering Amendola's injury history. Washington should not be viewed as more than a WR5.

Patriots | Nate Washington joining Patriots

Thu, 24 Mar 2016 13:44:24 -0700

Free-agent WR Nate Washington (Titans) is signing an undisclosed deal with the New England Patriots Thursday, March 24, according to a source.

Fantasy Tip: The Patriots are making some splashes in the passing game this offseason, signing Martellus Bennett, Chris Hogan and now Washington. Washington will be one of their better deep threats and could even win their No. 3 wide receiver job behind Julian Edelman and Danny Amendola. Of course, he'll be at least the fourth receiving option behind Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, Amendola and possibly Bennett. New England likes to use its running backs in the passing game, too, so there may be too many mouths to feed for Washington to be considered more than a WR4.
