AtlantaFalcons.com reports Atlanta Falcons WR Mareno Philyaw (knee) returned to the field for the first time in over a year. He missed all of last season with a knee injury. Philyaw shook off the rust during Monday’s workouts, catching several passes during the drills.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the Atlanta Falcons have tendered one-year deals to exclusive rights free agents: WR Mareno Philyaw, PK Jay Feely, LS Derek Rackley, QB Doug Johnson, OT Dave Kadela, DT Ron Moore and S Corey Hall. The team also tendered one-year offers to restricted free agents: C Todd McClure, LB Chris Draft and LB Jeff Kelly.

Charles Odum reports for the Sporting News the signing of free agent S Chris Hudson was not a huge move by the Atlanta Falcons but it does give them some insurance in case they lose backup FS Gerald McBurrows to free agency. The team has a little bit of a glut at the WR position. Terance Mathis, Shawn Jefferson and Tim Dwight are the big three for the team but behind them on the depth chart are Eugene Baker, Brian Finneran, Jammi Germann and Mareno Philyaw whom the team just re-signed. Germann has been injury prone and Finneran has lost the confidence of the coaches.
