Roy Cummings, of The Tampa Tribune, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers FB Rick Razzano is competing with FB Jerald Sowell for the job of blocking for FB Mike Alstott. Head coach Jon Gruden said, "It's a real competitive situation there. One of those guys is going to block for Mike, but we're still not sure just who that's going to be or how it's going to shake out."

Rick Stroud, of the St. Petersburg Times, reports Tampa Bay Buccaneers FB Rick Razzano is looking to improve his image after getting suspended for steroids in 2005. Razzano said, "I have a lot to prove out here, especially with all that happened last year. If there's steroid stuff, I know everybody was wondering: Is he going to just shrink to nothing?"

Roy Cummings, of the Tampa Tribune, reports the Tampa Bay Buccaneers want FB Mike Alstott to return in 2006. The team needs Alstott to return. The vision the team once had of FB Rick Razzano replacing Alstott as their lead fullback has become a bit cloudy. In part because of his steroid-related four-game suspension, Razzano spent just four weeks on the active roster and just three weeks on the practice squad last year. As a result, the Buccaneers still aren't quite sure what they have in Razzano. Alstott doesn't expect to get the $3 million signing bonus and $2 million salary he's slated to receive, but he wants a respectable wage. A deal that guarantees he'll make a little more than the $1.5 million he earned last year probably would do the trick.
