Carlos Monarrez, of the Detroit Free Press, reports Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham has been impressed with FS Louis Delmas thus far, comparing him to former Kansas City Chiefs CB Dale Carter. "Dale Carter was kind of wiry, long and looked like he was out of control sometimes, and then he'd have the ball," Cunningham said. "When I look at Delmas now, I go, 'My God, it is like I got younger and there is Dale in front of me again.' ... We don't want to anoint the guy at all. But he came on the practice field like I believe you should come on the practice field."

Mike Preston, writing for the Sporting News, reports the Baltimore Ravens are trying to re-sign CB Dale Carter. According to a team official, the Ravens want to bring him back as the nickel corner because the Ravens play teams from the AFC West, and Carter would match up well with those team's tight ends.

"I don't worry about nothing anymore, not after what I went through this last year with such a close call," Carter said. "I'm just happy to be alive. Football is a bonus on top of that. That was real scary." As reported, since Carter missed all of last season with a non-football related illness, his one-year contract in 2004 transfers to this season.

"We've decided to work Ed Reed a little bit there," said defensive coordinator Mike Nolan. "As for right now, that's what we've got and that's what we'll work for the next few days."
