Philadelphia Eagles LB Martin Patterson has shown he can play middle linebacker, according to defensive coordinator Jim Johnson. "He's a very physical linebacker," Johnson said. "He can take on a lead block. He takes on a lineman well." Johnson added that Patterson's weakness is pass coverage, but that he has performed well in camp."

It's a golden opportunity for Patterson, who has impressed as a rookie free agent from TCU. A big game or two in the preseason could earn him a ticket onto a roster either here or somewhere else.
