Holloway returned to Houston Monday afternoon, Nov. 10, and said his throat is sore but he will be okay.

Joseph Duarte, of the Houston Chronicle, reports Houston Texans TE Jabari Holloway (illness) returned to practice Monday, August 11 for the first time since being sidelined last week with a mysterious illness. Doctors were never able to pinpoint the exact nature of the illness to Holloway, who experienced flu-like symptoms and fatigue and dropped 13 pounds. "He tells me this is the best he's felt," Texans head coach Dom Capers said. "We need to put that behind us and move forward, and hopefully he'll get that strength back."

Updating a previous report, Joseph Duarte, of the Houston Chronicle, reports that tests taken to diagnose the illness that has kept Houston Texans TE Jabari Holloway (illness) out for most of the week came back inconclusive. "We've tried to get him back on the field. The medication was kind of making him dizzy and nauseated. Right now we have to get him over this illness or flu or whatever it is so he can gain his strength back," head coach Dom Capers said. Holloway, who is competing for a roster spot, has impressed coaches with his work ethic and improved blocking.

The Boston Globe reports the battle to start at TE for the New England Patriots is close between Jermaine Wiggins, who has been catching everything in sight and Rod Rutledge, whose goal is to shed his "good block, no catch" image. Rutledge reported in great shape, about 15 pounds lighter than last season, and he does look quicker. Three other candidates for the job, Johnny McWilliams (hamstring) and rookies Jabari Holloway (hamstring) and Arther Love (groin) remain sidelined with injuries. Chris Eitzmann, another candidate, caught the wrath of the coaches for dropping a pass when he was wide-open.

Jermaine Wiggins was able to make an impression during mini-camp and goes in as the favorite to win the starting job. However, Wiggins will have to prove to coach Bill Belichick that he can become a full time player. Belichick said the job is wide open and five players will be vying for the starting TE spot including Rod Rutledge, Johnny McWilliams, Jabari Holloway, Arther Love and Wiggins.

According to the Boston Herald, the New England Patriots have a battle for the starting tight end position ready to kick off at the start of training camp. TEs Jermaine Wiggins, who looked impressive at the end of the 2000 season, will battle with Jabari Holloway, Johnny McWilliams and Rod Rutledge. The team appears to view rookie Arther Love as a project and Chris Eitzmann has an uphill battle in front of him just to make the roster. QBs enjoyed throwing to Holloway during camps this year while McWilliams did little to impress during summer workouts.

The two TEs they drafted, Jabari Holloway and Arther Love, so far are exactly as advertised: good size; good potential; rough around the edges. "We know where they are. How they fit in is the question," said Patriots coach Bill Belichick. The team has looked at numerous free agents, but most have signed elsewhere. That leaves the two rookie tight ends plus holdover TEs Rod Rutledge, Jermaine Wiggins and Chris Eitzmann on the roster.

The New England Patriots official site reports all 20 of the team's draft picks and undrafted free agents were at rookie mini-camp earlier today. Undrafted free agent DL Jeff Dyra is in for a tryout this weekend. Coach Bill Belichick ran an afternoon practice that focused mostly on individual work. Top draft pick DL Richard Seymour did mostly technique and agility work, but he showed quickness during the punt drills. Rookie PK Owen Pochman had impressive distance. He made field goals from 30, 43, 48 and 48 yards out. Rookie TE Jabari Holloway showed decent hands, but average speed, while rookie TE Arther Love moved better, but struggled to hold on to passes.
