Mariners | Robinson Cano happy in Seattle

Mon, 23 Nov 2015 18:53:47 -0800

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano and his representative refuted a report the player is unhappy in Seattle. General manager Jerry Dipoto said Monday, Nov. 23, that Cano's agent called him and said that the comments weren't from Robinson.

Fantasy Tip: Winning cures everything, and if Cano really is unhappy, perhaps that will solve things. He posted 21 homers in 2015, which was nice, but he also struck out a career-high 107 times while his average tumbled to .287, lowest since 2008. Cano's 79 RBI were also his lowest since 2008.

Mariners | Robinson Cano has surgery

Tue, 13 Oct 2015 11:35:53 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano (groin) underwent surgery Tuesday, Oct. 13, to repair a sports hernia. His recovery time is six weeks, and he'll be ready for spring training.

Fantasy Tip: Cano had a big second half to finish with a .287-21-79 line. He'll be one of the top few second base options in traditional formats.

Mariners | Robinson Cano continues second-half surge

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 06:38:20 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano (hernia) went 2-for-5 with three RBI and hit his 21st home run of the season during the Mariners' 7-5 loss to the Oakland Athletics Saturday, Oct. 3.

Fantasy Tip: Cano ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) is scheduled to undergo sports hernia surgery next week and has been playing through the injury since July. It hasn't impacted his production, though, as Cano owns a .332/.389/.544 slash line with 43 runs, 15 home runs and 49 RBI since the All-Star break.

Mariners | Robinson Cano will play out season

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 15:54:34 -0700

Updating a previous report, Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano (hernia) will play in the final three games of the season against the Oakland Athletics.

Fantasy Tip: The sports hernia hasn't interfered with Cano's ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) production, so there is no reason to treat him any differently over the final weekend of the season. Continue to start him with confidence in seasonal leagues. His matchup against Athletics SP Aaron Brooks ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) Friday, Oct. 2, is a prime spot to utilize him at FantasyScore, too.

Mariners | Robinson Cano set for offseason surgery

Fri, 02 Oct 2015 15:47:59 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano (hernia) will undergo sports hernia surgery Tuesday, Oct. 13, and will require a six-week recovery period. He has been playing through the injury since July.

Fantasy Tip: Since July, 1, Cano ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) owns a .331/.384/.536 slash line with 50 runs, 16 home runs and 51 RBI. He is a notoriously slow starter, and seasonal owners should target him in trade negotiations early in the 2016 season if he starts weaker than expected. Continue to check back for updates, but Cano is likely to play out the rest of this season and be ready for spring training next year.

Mariners | Robinson Cano hits 20th homer

Wed, 30 Sep 2015 01:08:36 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano hit his 20th homer of the season Tuesday, Sept. 29. He is the eighth second baseman to hit 20 home runs in at least six seasons in Major League Baseball history. Cano also extended his hitting streak to 12 games.

Fantasy Tip: Cano ($5,300, 10.6% of cap) overcame a very slow start to his season and posted decent numbers. Keep him in your lineup if he starts, as the team wants him to close out strong and prepare for 2016.

Mariners | Robinson Cano still feels injury

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 19:42:26 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano (abdomen) has been playing with a strained abdominal muscle for six-plus weeks. He said Monday, Sept. 14, that every time he runs he can still feel the injury. Manager Lloyd McClendon said he does not foresee Cano taking much, if any, rest over the final three weeks. Cano also needs 10 more hits in the final 18 games to reach 2,000 for his career. He would be the 14th player to reach the milestone in his first 11 seasons.

Fantasy Tip: Cano ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) has been tough as nails fighting through this injury, where others might have phoned it in or simply landed on the disabled list. Still, he has had a down year by his standards and it's likely because he hasn't been 100 percent for a while. For FantasyScore purposes, he isn't worth the headache.

Mariners | Robinson Cano, Nelson Cruz in for big night?

Tue, 25 Aug 2015 10:03:32 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano is batting .438 (7-for-16) in his career against Oakland Athletics SP Jesse Chavez, who he faces Tuesday, Aug. 25. OF Nelson Cruz is 5-for-11 with two home runs and six RBI in his career against Chavez.

Fantasy Tip: Both Cano ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) and Cruz ($6,200, 12.4% of cap) are solid plays on FantasyScore tonight against Chavez, who has struggled on the road this season.

Mariners | Brad Miller in lineup Sunday

Sun, 23 Aug 2015 11:28:38 -0700

Seattle Mariners INF/OF Brad Miller is batting eighth and starting at second base against Chicago White Sox SP John Danks Sunday, Aug. 23. 2B Robinson Cano will bat cleanup and serve as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Miller ($4,100, 8.2% of cap) is batting .317 with a home run and three RBIs in 41 at-bats this month, although he has a less-than-ideal matchup this afternoon in FantasyScore. All nine of his homers this season have come against righties and he is hitting just .213 with seven RBIs versus southpaws.

Mariners | Five-hit game for Robinson Cano

Sun, 16 Aug 2015 17:05:21 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano went 5-for-7 with a home run, a double, three RBI and two runs scored in a 10-8 win over the Boston Red Sox Sunday, Aug. 16.

Fantasy Tip: Cano ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) is still having a down year overall, but he hit .337 in July and his hitting .350 in August. He may have disappointed for much of the year, but he is currently well worth his price tag at FantasyScore.
