New York Yankees 2B Robinson Cano has already started his offseason workouts and will train very hard before spring training to prepare himself for the possibility of hitting third in 2012. "I want to work even harder to not let the team down in getting the opportunity to move up to the third spot," Cano said. "So that our situations when you get there, you want to stay there. It is a spot in the lineup where you want to produce all the time."

The American League 2012 Silver Slugger Award winners were announced Wednesday, Nov. 2. The winners included Boston Red Sox 1B Adrian Gonzalez, New York Yankees 2B Robinson Cano, Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre, Cleveland Indians SS Asdrubal Cabrera, New York Yankees OF Curtis Granderson, Toronto Blue Jays OF Jose Bautista, Boston Red Sox OF Jacoby Ellsbury, Detroit Tigers C Alex Avila and Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz.

Scott Boras, who represents New York Yankees 2B Robinson Cano, asked the Yankees for a long-term deal for Cano. The Yankees declined. Cano has two years and $29 million left on his deal.

New York Yankees 2B Robinson Cano went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, a grand slam and six RBIs in Game 1 of the American League Division Series against the Detroit Tigers Saturday, Oct. 1. The grand slam was the 11th in franchise postseason history, and the first since former OF Ricky Ledee in the 1999 American League Championship Series against the Boston Red Sox. His six RBIs also tied a franchise postseason record.
