Mariners | Dae-ho Lee on the bench

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 10:34:44 -0700

Seattle Mariners 1B Dae-ho Lee is not in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Dillon Gee Sunday, July 10. 1B Adam Lind will start at first base, while 2B Robinson Cano will serve as the designated hitter. INF Shawn O'Malley will start at second base and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: O'Malley is hitting only .211 in limited playing time this season and should be avoided in all fantasy leagues. Cano and Lind should be solid starting options for owners.

Mariners | Robinson Cano hits 20th home run

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 21:57:40 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run and two RBI against the Houston Astros on Wednesday, July 6.

Fantasy Tip: Homers have been few and far between for Cano after he clubbed 15 of them in April and June, but he has been swing the bat well of late: 17-for-42 (.405) over his last 11 games. With his line now at .308-20-56 for the year, Cano is a top fantasy option at second base.

Mariners | Robinson Cano continues to produce

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 23:38:09 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano went 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI Tuesday, June 28, against the Pittsburgh Pirates to push his batting average up to .303.

Fantasy Tip: Cano has been scorching the ball in the month of June, posting 11 multi-hit efforts over his past 25 outings. He isn't quite to his fantasy levels of his days with the New York Yankees, but he is once again a Top 5 fantasy option at his position.

Mariners | Robinson Cano homers twice in loss

Fri, 10 Jun 2016 04:45:11 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano was 3-for-5 with two home runs Thursday, June 9, in a 5-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians. Cano is now hitting .298 but slugging .592 this season.

Fantasy Tip: Cano is up to 18 home runs already and it's not even the All-Star break. Needless to say, you should have the slugger active in all formats because it appears to be a solid year for the cornerstone of the Mariners infield.

Mariners | Ketel Marte back in lineup

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 14:36:18 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Ketel Marte is starting at shortstop and is hitting eighth after being activated from the disabled list Monday, June 6. He'll be facing Cleveland Indians SP Trevor Bauer. SS Shawn O'Malley is playing second base and hitting ninth with 2B Robinson Cano serving as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Marte was sporting a .276/.307/.378 slash line with one home run, 14 RBI and five stolen bases before his DL stint. He is more of a slap hitter, so he won't help fantasy owners at all in the speed department. However, his line-drive stroke should keep his average up, and his speed should play in deeper leagues. Add him now if he's available on your waiver wire. O'Malley will lose considerable playing time with Marte back.

Mariners | Robinson Cano leads in RBI

Tue, 24 May 2016 23:30:38 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano had three RBI Tuesday, May 24, and leads the majors with 42 RBI. He has reached safely in 23 consecutive games, hitting .344 (33-for-96) over that span with five homers, 10 doubles and 18 RBI.

Fantasy Tip: He's on pace for a .292-47-151 season and very much looks to be back to his old self. His home-road splits are pretty drastic, though. He has a .229-4-15 line at home and a .343-9-27 line on the road. It's safe to say he has the most DFS upside away from Safeco Field.

Mariners | Robinson Cano having career year

Fri, 20 May 2016 16:35:55 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano is having a career year in 2016 after battling injuries and illness last season. He's currently tied for the American League lead with 12 home runs and leads the majors with 36 RBI to go along with a .930 OPS. Cano had one home run, 11 RBI and a .661 OPS after 40 games last year. He appears fully healthy and motivated. "Now that you're healthy, you get to look back and see the difference," Cano said. "After what I went through last year, thank God I'm healthy. I'm able to use my body and move left and right, back and forth. That's everything."

Fantasy Tip: Health is everything in sports. Cano has turned things around drastically and looks like a new man compared to last year in Seattle. He's turned out to be a great value pick in fantasy drafts and is an elite second baseman. Continue to play him with the utmost confidence.

Tue, 17 May 2016 20:06:58 -0700

Seattle Mariners 2B Robinson Cano went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI against the Baltimore Orioles Tuesday, May 17.

Fantasy Tip: Cano has recorded at least one hit in 14 of his 15 games this month and has eight multi-hit games in that span. He should be a starter in all leagues and is a valuable option in daily fantasy leagues during his hot streak.
