Mark Ludwiczak, of BuffaloBills.com, reports last season the Buffalo Bills' special teams units finished in the top five in almost every special teams category. Buffalo was second in kickoff return average (24.5 yards) and average kickoff yards allowed (18.3). It also finished fifth in punt return average (10.7), first in average drive start (31.3 yards) and 13th in net punting average. In addition, the Bills became the first team to score five touchdowns on special teams since the Chicago Cardinals accomplished the feat in 1959. Despite the tremendous effort a year ago, special team coach Bobby April believes the unit can improve in 2005. "We can improve just by the fact that we have most of our players back," April said. "We have a group that's not content with the status quo. They're always trying to improve themselves. They're always pressing for more knowledge, always pressing to be more dominant and it's just a real outstanding group of people that the organization has put there."
