Sat, 02 Sep 2006 16:11:02 -0700 The Philadelphia Eagles announced QB Timmy Chang has been released from the team.
Mon, 21 Aug 2006 05:56:28 -0700 Reuben Frank, of phillyburbs.com, reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Timmy Chang is strongly pressing QB Koy Detmer for the team's No. 3 quarterback slot. Chang didn't do much his first two preseason appearances, but Thursday night, Aug. 17, in Baltimore he showed some flashes. Although the final numbers weren't impressive, Chang was victimized by two drops, one of them negating a potential 25-yard gain. As bad as Detmer has been, his passer rating for the preseason is 25.0, Chang has a chance.
Wed, 09 Aug 2006 10:58:09 -0700 Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid said Wednesday, Aug. 9, during his press conference QBs Donovan McNabb, Jeff Garcia and Timmy Chang will split time against the Cleveland Browns Thursday, Aug. 10. McNabb will play about 1 ½ quarters, along with the rest of the starters, Garcia will play about 1 ½ quarters with the second unit and Chang will lead the third unit for about one quarter. QB Koy Detmer has been given the game off and will play the team's following preseason game, with Garcia taking that game off.
Thu, 27 Jul 2006 17:07:48 -0700 Philadelphia Eagles special teams coordinator John Harbaugh says QB Timmy Chang is working as a holder and is getting better at the job. Chang has never been a holder before.
Thu, 27 Jul 2006 05:40:21 -0700 Nick Fierro, of the Express-Times, reports the more Philadelphia Eagles P Dirk Johnson works as the holder with the first-team field goal unit, the more QB Timmy Chang has a chance of beating out veteran QB Koy Detmer for the No. 3 QB job. Detmer is an expert holder, often called the best in the game by PK David Akers and LS Mike Bartrum, but the Eagles obviously are preparing as if he might not be around.
Sun, 23 Jul 2006 11:18:54 -0700 Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg discussed QB Timmy Chang's progress with the team. "I think he's got something there. He really throws the football well. He's a tough guy; he's got a little juice to him. Again, he's just got a lot of learning to do like any new quarterback coming in. I think he is doing well. Especially, a young quarterback like he is, in this system in the NFL, you're going to make mistakes. It's almost [like] you can't get better without making mistakes. We understand that."
Sun, 09 Jul 2006 06:38:10 -0700 Jason Kaneshiro, of the Star Bulletin, reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Timmy Chang will soon resume his quest for a job in the NFL. Chang is among four quarterbacks currently on the Philadelphia roster and will head back to the mainland on July 20 for training camp. It'll be his second shot at earning a spot in the league after being cut during training camp last season. "I just don't take it for granted and make use of all the opportunities I get," he said. Chang is on a depth chart that includes QBs Donovan McNabb, Jeff Garcia and Koy Detmer. Chang said he's not focused on his status on the depth chart entering training camp. Chang has worked with trainer Chad Ikei to get in better shape. He has cut his body fat from 19 to nine percent.
Tue, 04 Jul 2006 06:31:18 -0700 Zach Berman, of PhiladelphiaEagles.com, reports while the Philadelphia Eagles are set at No. 1 and No. 2 on their quarterback depth chart, slots held by QBs Donovan McNabb and Jeff Garcia, respectively, there will be a battle for the No. 3 spot between QBs Koy Detmer and Timmy Chang. Detmer has the upper hand from the start since he is a 10-year veteran with knowledge of the system, but the team has made it clear that Chang will have the chance to unseat him.
Fri, 26 May 2006 15:04:16 -0700 Zach Berman, of PhiladelphiaEagles.com, reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Timmy Chang is using training camp with the team to break the label of him being a 'system quarterback', someone who cannot perform outside of the pass-heavy offense he thrived in at the University of Hawaii. He played well in the NFL Europe recently, completing 57 percent of his passes, but still has much to prove. Even if he does not make the team, which is likely since the roster already includes QBs Donovan McNabb, Jeff Garcia and Koy Detmer, if he is able to grasp the team's intricate playbook, he can help to shake the label that has been placed on him.
Thu, 25 May 2006 09:55:19 -0700 Bob Brookover, of the Philadelphia Inquirer, reports Philadelphia Eagles QB Timmy Chang will attend this week's minicamp after returning from his NFL Europe season. Chang completed 50-of-89 passes with the Rhein Fire for 659 yards. He threw four touchdowns and three interceptions.
