Updating an ongoing story, Karen Guregian, of the Boston Herald, reports New England Patriots QB Tom Brady has undergone three procedures to eradicate the infection in his left knee, according to a source familiar with Brady. It is feared that the patellar tendon graft used to replace Brady's anterior cruciate ligament is in danger of being compromised, which would force doctors to begin Brady's ACL reconstruction from scratch.

Tom Brady stated on his personal website, TomBrady.com, that the second surgery on his knee to clear out an infection went well. Brady first underwent surgery on his knee Monday, Oct. 6, which went well, and doctors described his knee as "rock solid." However, Brady developed an infection in his knee in the following week. The infection was cleared out with surgery, and he is treating it with antibiotics. Brady said the results of all the tests have been positive, and he plans to continue rehabbing the knee for 2009.

Brady had surgery Oct. 6 at a Los Angeles clinic. Doctors said the procedure went well, but Brady began to feel ill this week because of the infection.
