Patriots | Tom Brady scared in the pocket?

Tue, 30 Sep 2014 19:27:29 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady has looked "scared to death" throwing the ball this season, his former teammate, Rodney Harrison, said Tuesday, Sept. 30.

Fantasy Tip: New England's offensive line has been a revolving door this season so it would be tough to blame Brady if he is feeling a little jittery in the pocket. Scared or not, Brady's numbers have been way down, and with the Patriots facing a stout Cincinnati defense in Week 5, he has serious bust potential at FantasyScore where he will take up 14.8% of the cap ($7,400).

Patriots | O-line hurting Patriots

Tue, 30 Sep 2014 09:17:43 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady and the offense struggled mightily in a 41-14 thrashing by the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4 Monday, Sept. 29, and head coach Bill Belichick hasn't been able to settle on a starting group on the offensive line. C Bryan Stork, a rookie, debuted as the starting center, and OG Cameron Fleming debuted as the starting guard. The team benched both starting tackles at various points during the game. Brady hasn't had much time to throw all year, and he was off target Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Until New England's offensive line can gain some consistency, Brady may continue to struggle to put up numbers in this weak offense. Rob Gronkowski also continues to look much less than 100 percent healthy. Until we see improvements, it's probably safer to stay away from Brady at FantasyScore.

Patriots | Tom Brady lifted early

Mon, 29 Sep 2014 19:27:12 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady completed 14 of his 23 pass attempts for 159 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the Week 4 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs Monday, Sept. 29. One of the interceptions was returned for a touchdown.

Fantasy Tip: It was a very un-Brady-like performance. His departure from the game was due to the lopsided nature of the score, as it was 41-7 when he was lifted for rookie Jimmy Garoppolo.

Patriots | Tom Brady rushed to make throws

Wed, 24 Sep 2014 13:09:00 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady didn't try to get deeper into his progressions in Week 3 against the Oakland Raiders until late in the second half. There were only two times when Brady looked past his first read and wasn't under serious pressure from the Raiders' pass rush. On both of those instances, Brady completed a pass to WR Julian Edelman. Brady has been getting hit hard or pressured when looking through his progressions deeper down the field, which is why Edelman and TE Rob Gronkowski are being targeted more - they are his best and most consistent receivers.

Fantasy Tip: Are Brady's glory days behind him? That's probably the case, but he can still be productive in the right matchups. However, beyond Edelman and Gronkowski, his other receiving options will be weak flex plays until the offensive line can give Brady more time to look through all of his downfield options.

Patriots | Tom Brady's calf could be an issue

Mon, 22 Sep 2014 08:48:14 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (calf) could have a legit calf injury because his touch and velocity has been off in the early part of the season. Brady also rushed a few throws in Week 2 after taking some hits the previous week. Brady appears to have a lack of trust with his offensive line, in the opinion of beat writer Chad Finn.

Fantasy Tip: Brady started slowly last season but eventually picked it up. He could very well do the same this season, or this could be a typical regression for a 37-year-old quarterback. Either way, he's a very shaky QB1 right now.

Patriots | Tom Brady leaning on Julian Edelman

Mon, 22 Sep 2014 07:13:45 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady has completed 84.6 percent of his passes to WR Julian Edelman. He has completed just 51.1 percent of his passes to other players.

Fantasy Tip: Brady has yet to have a banner fantasy day thus far, but Edelman is playing like a WR1 in PPR leagues. Brady is a weak QB1 right now due to the lack of continuity on offense and should only be played in good matchups right now.

Patriots | Tom Brady struggling deep

Tue, 16 Sep 2014 07:43:45 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady is 3-for-20 on passing attempts of 15 yards or more in the first two weeks.

Fantasy Tip: Brady is priced at $8,200 (16.4% of your cap) on FantasyScore this week. He has a good matchup against the Oakland Raiders, but there are better options at lower prices than Brady until he gets in-sync with his receivers.

Patriots | Tom Brady not on injury report

Wed, 10 Sep 2014 22:03:37 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (calf) was not listed on the team's first injury report for Week 2 Wednesday, Sept. 10. He was on the injury report last week with a calf ailment.

Fantasy Tip: Brady was able to play in Week 1, and the injury appears to be a non-issue. FantasyScore owners should feel confident starting him in Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Patriots | Tom Brady practicing

Wed, 10 Sep 2014 09:10:43 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady (calf) is participating in practice Wednesday, Sept. 10.

Fantasy Tip: Brady was able to play last week with the injury and should be on the field again for Week 2. Brady had a solid game Week 1 but did not put up spectacular numbers. Brady costs $7,800 at FantasyScore, which seems to be a fair value for him.

Patriots | Tom Brady struggles with pressure

Tue, 09 Sep 2014 14:16:46 -0700

New England Patriots QB Tom Brady struggled under pressure against the Miami Dolphins Sunday, Sept. 7. Brady was pressured on 16 dropbacks, according to ESPN, and went 0-for-6 with four sacks while under pressure in the second half.

Fantasy Tip: Every quarterback performs worse under pressure, but Brady really showed that against the Dolphins. The Patriots offensive line looked very shaky and could diminish Brady's fantasy value as the season progresses. That being said, he still didn't throw an interception and has most of his offense intact. He could be a nice play against the Minnesota Vikings for $7,800 on FantasyScore.
