The Seattle Mariners will recall INF Carlos Triunfel from the minors Friday, May 24, after they designated 2B Robert Andino for assignment. Triunfel likely beat out SS Nick Franklin because he can play second, third and shortstop.

Seattle Mariners manager Eric Wedge said Tuesday, May 14, that the reason 2B Dustin Ackley and 1B Justin Smoak were out of the lineup against the New York Yankees was simply due to playing matchups. "It's more of a matchup thing than anything," Wedge said. "I wanted to get (OF Raul Ibanez) in there, and I wanted to get (INF Robert Andino) and (SS Brendan Ryan) in there. They both had decent numbers against CC."

Mariners | Brendan Ryan loses starting SS job

Wed, 24 Apr 2013 10:26:06 -0700

Seattle Mariners SS Brendan Ryan has lost his starting job to INF Robert Andino, but manager Eric Wedge says he'll determine how long it lasts depending on results.

Fantasy Tip: At-bat seekers in AL-only leagues should work accordingly. Andino has more offensive upside, if only a smidge, so if he's available, use a light investment to secure his services. This isn't a "FAAB splurge" moment.
