Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP C.J. Wilson (head) feels fine Wednesday, Feb. 26, a day after being hit in the head by a line drive in batting practice, and he plans to throw a bullpen Thursday, Feb. 27. He's scheduled to start the spring game Saturday, March 1, if he feels good. Wilson doesn't throw with a protective L screen in front of him because he said he can't throw strikes with it there.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols and former teammate Torii Hunter, now of the Detroit Tigers, reportedly came close to fighting with each other during a team meeting last season. Not long before the meeting, Hunter had a confrontation in the dugout with SP C.J. Wilson. Pujols confronted Hunter during the meeting, unaware that the two players had already settled their differences. Pujols and Hunter exchanged words, with Hunter accusing Pujols of being a bad teammate even when the Angels won because of his tendency to pout if he didn't get any hits. After Pujols told Hunter to shut up, Hunter charged Pujols from the other end of the clubhouse but ended up being restrained by RP LaTroy Hawkins and OF Vernon Wells. Hunter and Pujols eventually settled the dispute and remain friends.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jered Weaver will start the club's first game after the All-Star break, followed by SP C.J. Wilson and SP Jerome Williams.
Fantasy Tip: The Halos open the second half at home against the pretty dangerous Oakland Athletics. The shine has worn off Williams since he first entered the rotation and pitched well, so he's not a smart start.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Joe Blanton will be skipped in the rotation this weekend. "We'll push him back a couple of days with (Thursday's) off day and see where he'll fold in," manager Mike Scioscia said. "We'll see how some guys come out of some starts and go from there." Blanton has allowed a major league-high 111 hits. Opponents have batted .332 against him.
SPs C.J. Wilson, Tommy Hanson and Jered Weaver will face the New York Yankees in a series that begins on Friday, June 14, in Anaheim. SP Jerome Williams started the series finale at the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday, June 12, and if he pitches well, there's a chance that he'll take Blanton's spot.
Fantasy Tip: This might be the best way for AL-only owners to salvage some value from the fifth spot in the Halos' rotation. Williams should be on the radar there again, and if he keeps pitching as well as he has, he'll be useful in deep mixed leagues, too.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jerome Williams was moved from the starting rotation to the bullpen, as manager Mike Scioscia elected to keep SPs Jered Weaver, C.J. Wilson, Jason Vargas, Tommy Hanson and Joe Blanton as his starting five pitchers.
Fantasy Tip: Williams had recorded five straight quality starts, and was 3-2 with a 3.08 ERA as a starter. He will be used as a long-relief specialist, and Scioscia did not rule out a return to the rotation if the situation should arise. However, fantasy owners will want to drop him in all but the deepest of AL-only leagues and rotisserie formats, where he can still help in the ERA and WHIP categories.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim C Hank Conger is catching SP C.J. Wilson's fifth straight start, but manager Mike Scioscia said it has more to do with C Chris Iannetta's struggles. Scioscia isn't necessarily trying to pair Conger with Wilson. "First and foremost, we want him to get a little more of a comfort level behind the plate. He's doing a good job, but it just doesn't look like he's as comfortable as he needs to be back there. On the offensive side, he hasn't gotten a lot of hits to fall in, but that's secondary to what our starting pitchers need especially," Scioscia said.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim manager Mike Scioscia used C Hank Conger for the fourth straight start of SP C.J. Wilson, but he said he is not pairing Conger and Wilson exclusively. Conger also started Tuesday, April 30, and was used again because Scioscia said C Chris Iannetta was still "a little stiff" after catching 18 2/3 innings Monday, April 29, against the Oakland Athletics.
