Reds | Skip Schumaker starting

Sat, 27 Jun 2015 12:57:27 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Skip Schumaker will start in left field and bat sixth against Matt Harvey and the New York Mets Saturday, June 27.

Fantasy Tip: Schumaker ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) hasn't done a lot with the limited playing time he's been given this year. It's probably best to fade him against Harvey today, unless you want to use more of your salary cap at other positions.

Reds | Jay Bruce sitting out vs. Pirates

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 14:46:36 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Jay Bruce is not in the starting lineup Thursday, June 25. 2B Skip Schumaker is starting in right field and batting seventh against Pittsburgh Pirates SP A.J. Burnett Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Bruce ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) in all fantasy formats Thursday. He is currently in fine form and sporting a seven-game hitting streak with nine runs, three home runs, nine RBI and a .467/.500/.900 slash line. Against Burnett, Schumaker ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief for FantasyScore contests Thursday.

Reds | Skip Schumaker not in the lineup

Tue, 16 Jun 2015 14:07:33 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 2B Skip Schumaker is not in the starting lineup against Detroit Tigers SP Kyle Ryan Tuesday, June 16. 2B Ivan De Jesus will start in left field and is batting second in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Schumaker ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return to the lineup soon. De Jesus ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has picked up at least one hit in five of his last six games, but owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options to use.

Reds | Skip Schumaker to be designated hitter

Mon, 15 Jun 2015 13:25:04 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 2B Skip Schumaker will serve as the designated hitter against Detroit Tigers SP Anibal Sanchez Monday, June 15, and is batting second. OF Brennan Boesch will start in left field and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Schumaker ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) has struggled this month with a .207 batting average over 12 games. Owners on FantasyScore should be able to find other options to use. Boesch ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting only .132 on the season and should not be a fantasy option.

Reds | Skip Schumaker out of Sunday lineup

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 13:55:43 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Skip Schumaker is not in the starting lineup Sunday, June 14, against the Chicago Cubs. OF Kris Negron is batting seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Schumaker ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is hitting .429 against left-handed pitching this season, so it's a bit of a surprise to see him down against lefty Jon Lester. Negron ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has a .152 average but is hitting .286 in the past week. He may be a decent low-price alternative.

Reds | Skip Schumaker leading off against Cubs

Fri, 12 Jun 2015 10:18:42 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 2B Skip Schumaker is hitting leadoff and playing left field against Chicago Cubs SP Jason Hammel Friday, June 12.

Fantasy Tip: Schumaker ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) has only 18 hits in 79 at-bats (.228) and doesn't have much power to speak of, and he's also never stolen more than eight bases in a full season. Even at leadoff, that shouldn't excite you at all on FantasyScore, especially when facing Hammel, who could wind up as a top-20 fantasy starter in 2015.

Reds | Brandon Phillips remains out

Fri, 29 May 2015 12:40:40 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 2B Brandon Phillips (toe) is not in the starting lineup Friday, May 29. 2B Skip Schumaker is scheduled to start at second base for the Reds.

Fantasy Tip: Phillips ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) has not been in the starting lineup for three straight games, so owners should monitor the situation. Schumaker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is batting .242 this month, but owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options.

Reds | Brandon Phillips still out

Wed, 27 May 2015 07:10:29 -0700

Cincinnati Reds 2B Brandon Phillips (toe) is not in the starting lineup against the Colorado Rockies Wednesday, May 27. 2B Skip Schumaker is batting leadoff and starting at the keystone Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to avoid Phillips ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) in all fantasy formats Wednesday. There was speculation he might be able to play Wednesday, so seasonal owners shouldn't anticipate a lengthy absence. While Schumaker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is cheap and in a prime lineup spot, he is nothing more than a low-price flier for FantasyScore contests.

Sat, 23 May 2015 09:03:03 -0700

Cincinnati Reds OF Marlon Byrd is not in the starting lineup Saturday, May 23. OF Skip Schumaker will be the starting left fielder for the Reds.

Fantasy Tip: Byrd ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) has been on a cold streak lately and likely is receiving a day off. Schumaker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is hitting .250 in limited playing time, but owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options.
