Rangers | May trade for backup C

The Texas Rangers may consider trading SP Michael Kirkman, who is out of minor league options, for another backup catcher with C Geovany Soto (knee) out. The Rangers could eye New York Yankees Cs Francisco Cervelli or Austin Romine or Arizona Diamondbacks Cs Henry Blanco or Bobby Wilson. The Rangers have also discussed Kansas City Royals C Ramon Hernandez, who is unlikely to make the active roster.

Yankees | Francisco Cervelli expected to make team

New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi is expecting C Francisco Cervelli to make the roster despite the fact that he's hitting only .227 this spring. Cervelli has excelled defensively, though, which is what Girardi looks for in his everyday catcher. C Chris Stewart is competing with Cervelli for the starting job. C Bobby Wilson is the other backstop on roster.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Jerome Williams received a racial epithet from a follower on his official Twitter account following his loss Tuesday, June 12, against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Williams showed his maturity after the ugly incident. "You've got some ignorant people out there," Williams said. "I went through so much stuff like that when I was growing up - it doesn't bother me anymore. It did kind of tick me off, and when I was younger, I used to lash out, wanting to fight every time. Now, knowing what's going on, I won't lash out. Just be the bigger man and walk away." Several teammates, including RP LaTroy Hawkins and C Bobby Wilson defended their teammate on Twitter.
