Miami Marlins SP Josh Johnson (shoulder) has arrived to spring training camp a bit early this year after missing most of last season with a shoulder injury. He will throw off a mound Friday, Feb. 10, and he is expected to start on opening day.

Miami Marlins president David Samson said SP Josh Johnson (shoulder) is throwing off a mound twice a week without any restrictions. "He wants 35 starts," Samson said. "He's ready for a full season."

Miami Marlins SP Josh Johnson (shoulder) said he "felt good" Wednesday, Jan. 25, after throwing off a mound Tuesday, Jan. 24, for the first time since September. He threw 27 to 29 fastballs Tuesday, and he will do the same workout later this week and then move to "bullpen sessions" three times a week starting next week. Johnson has been working with physical therapists in the offseason to strengthen his upper body.

Marlins | Josh Johnson expects to be completely healthy by spring training

Miami Marlins SP Josh Johnson (shoulder) said he will "definitely" be 100 percent healthy when pitchers begin spring training drills next month. He is scheduled to throw two bullpen sessions this week and three sessions the following week.

Miami Marlins SP Josh Johnson (shoulder, finger) developed a minor blister on his right middle finger while throwing live batting practice sessions shortly after the end of the season, but he pitched through the blister while rehabbing from a right shoulder injury during the season. Johnson is close to beginning a throwing program in around two weeks, and he expects to be at full strength for spring training. "The shoulder feels great," Johnson said. "I haven't felt anything in a long time." He plans to long toss for a full month this offseason to strengthen his shoulder. Johnson thinks his injury this year was the result of his height and bad posture on the mound.

Florida Marlins SP Josh Johnson (shoulder) threw a 50-pitch bullpen session Monday, Sept. 19, and will face hitters in the instructional league Thursday, Sept. 22. Johnson threw all of his pitches Monday, including his slider.
