Padres | Josh Johnson having another elbow surgery |
Wed, 16 Sep 2015 09:25:22 -0700
San Diego Padres SP Josh Johnson (elbow) will have a third Tommy John surgery soon in hopes of making another comeback, according to sources. He recently suffered a setback while on his rehab assignment and is likely to have surgery sometime next week. Johnson last pitched in the majors in 2013.
Fantasy Tip: The chances of Johnson making a successful comeback at this point are dwindling. You'll want to completely ignore him in all fantasy formats for 2016.

Padres | Josh Johnson to rehab Friday |
Thu, 03 Sep 2015 16:26:47 -0700
San Diego Padres SP Josh Johnson (neck) will throw an inning for Class A Lake Elsinore Friday, Sept. 4.
Fantasy Tip: Johnson just hasn't been able to stay healthy; he hasn't exceeded 200 innings since 2009 with the then Florida Marlins. Yeah... he's not worth drafting next year until he proves he can remain in a starting rotation for a long period of time.

Padres | Two Friars pitchers rehabbing |
Wed, 19 Aug 2015 11:50:02 -0700
San Diego Padres SP Josh Johnson (neck) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Aug. 18, and SP Cory Luebke (elbow) has started playing catch in his rehab.
Fantasy Tip: Neither pitcher will pitch again in 2015, and there's no guarantee either will be healthy to open up the 2016 season, so you'll likely want to avoid them both in drafts next spring.

Padres | Josh Johnson ends sim game early |
Tue, 16 Jun 2015 18:49:00 -0700
San Diego Padres SP Josh Johnson (neck) cut his simulated game short Monday, June 15, after feeling tingling in his fingers. He was limited to just three pitches. Johnson will have tests Wednesday, June 17.
Fantasy Tip: Johnson has started and stopped throwing on a couple of different occasions during his rehab. It remains uncertain when he will be able to return to the mound for the big club, so FantasyScore players need not bother with him for a while.

Padres | Josh Johnson stops throwing |
Mon, 25 May 2015 18:16:41 -0700
San Diego Padres SP Josh Johnson (neck) had to stop throwing because of a "nerve situation" in his neck, according to manager Bud Black. Johnson is working his way back from Tommy John surgery, and he also reported tightness in his triceps after throwing a simulated game April 28.
Fantasy Tip: Johnson is quickly becoming irrelevant in fantasy circles. There's no reason to be stashing Johnson in any type of league at this point.

Padres | Josh Johnson moved to 60-day DL |
Sun, 24 May 2015 05:45:50 -0700
San Diego Padres SP Josh Johnson (elbow) was moved from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day DL Saturday, May 23. Johnson continues to recover from Tommy John surgery.
Fantasy Tip: Once an elite strikeout pitcher, Johnson's career has been derailed by a plethora of injuries. FantasyScore owners will need to allow for a few starts after an eventual return to the major leagues in order to judge what Johnson has left in the tank.

Padres | Josh Johnson feels good after 'pen |
Sat, 16 May 2015 11:07:44 -0700
San Diego Padres SP Josh Johnson (elbow, triceps) felt fine a day after his 32-pitch bullpen session Friday, May 15, and he hadn't been on a mound since an April 28 simulated game in which he felt tightness in his triceps. Johnson said he felt "real good" after his session Friday, but the team is taking extra caution after he's coming back from his second Tommy John procedure. Johnson is hoping to throw a few more side sessions, another simulated game and then go on a minor league rehab assignment.
Fantasy Tip: Johnson could be a rotation candidate for the Padres when he's ready to return to MLB action, and he can be a useful source of strikeouts when he's healthy, especially when pitching at Petco Park. Stash him now in deep mixed and NL-only leagues to get ahead of the game.

Padres | Josh Johnson resumes throwing |
Tue, 12 May 2015 16:34:06 -0700
San Diego Padres SP Josh Johnson (triceps) has resumed throwing after having soreness after a simulated game May 1.
Fantasy Tip: Johnson has a ways to go before he'll be considered for a rotation spot in San Diego. Even when he's healthy, though, there may not be room for him in the starting five. If fully healthy, he could find success at pitcher-friendly Petco Park, so he's worth stashing in NL-only leagues if you have the room.

Padres | Josh Johnson to play catch soon |
Tue, 05 May 2015 20:17:22 -0700
San Diego Padres SP Josh Johnson (triceps) said Tuesday, May 5, that he had some triceps tightness after his simulated game a week ago. He said the pain is now gone, and he will play catch later this week.
Fantasy Tip: It's uncertain when Johnson will be able to return to the big club, but FantasyScore players will have another solid pitching option to use when Johnson finally is able to return.
