The Associated Press reports Minnesota Vikings DL Steve Martin (ankle) left the team's preseason game Friday, Sept. 2, with a sprained left ankle. He was taken from the sideline to the locker room on a cart.

Kevin Seifert, reports for the Sporting News, Minnesota Vikings DT Steve Martin may land a roster spot as a top reserve along the Vikings' defensive line. Martin has lost weight during the offseason in his attempt to show the coaching staff he deserves a roster spot. Martin can also contribute in goal line situations as well as provide a fresh, big body during key parts of the third and fourth quarters.

Minnesota Vikings DT Steve Martin is one of 36 NFL players who will be attending an executive education program at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, from April 6-8. The program is part of an ongoing NFL-NFLPA initiative to assist players in preparing for their post-playing careers.
