New York Giants CB Jayron Hosley replaced starter Trumaine McBride in the second half Sunday, Dec. 8, and defensive coordinator Perry Fewell opened the door for Hosley to earn more playing time. But he stressed that the starting job is still McBride's. "We're going to evaluate again this week at the end of the week," Fewell said. "Both guys will probably play. Both guys are competing for the job and as I said earlier, it's still McBride's job to lose. So both guys will play."

New York Giants defensive coordinator Perry Fewell said he is still interested in becoming a head coach in the NFL at some point even though he did not get any of the four jobs he interviewed for during the offseason. He said that the interviews taught him that he is ready to become a head coach. "I'm prepared to lead a club and an organization and a football team into battle on Sundays to win a Super Bowl. I learned a lot about administration and organization and preparation as far as the interview process is concerned," Fewell said.

New York Giants DL Justin Tuck said he has been impressed with the intensity of new defensive coordinator Perry Fewell this offseason, according to Matt Mosley, of ESPN.com. At the same time, Tuck took a shot at former defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan. "You can tell he loves what he's doing," Tuck said of Fewell. "He has that fire about him, like he really loves defense. I think that is contagious. I've seen him lead a safety or corner into the end zone after a pick in practice. ... Bill would high-five us, but it sometimes didn't feel like he wanted to be there." Tuck also criticized Sheridan's play-calling last season. "Bill got stagnant in his play calling," Tuck said. "We didn't do a lot of adjustments last year. ... We kinda played individual ball a lot, me included. It made it easy for teams to single us out and block us."

DEs Osi Umenyiora and Mathias Kiwanuka have already stated their case for playing time and a starting job. Fewell said, "You know, all those guys have an opinion of what they'd like to do. I would like for their dreams to come true, too. If they want to start: Hey, prove it. We're going to have a lot of football, a lot of practice. Let's just prove it and I think that'll take care of itself."
