Jason Cole, of the Miami Herald, reports Miami Dolphins assistant head coach for defense Will Muschamp left the team Friday, Feb. 3, to take the defensive coordinator position with Auburn. The departure of Muschamp and defensive coordinator Richard Smith clears the way for Dom Capers to essentially be the defensive coordinator.

Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Richard Smith may be headed to the Houston Texans. The Houston Chronicle reported that Smith is expected to become the Texans' co-defensive coordinator with Arizona Cardinals assistant coach Frank Bush on new head coach Gary Kubiak's staff. Smith and assistant head coach of defense Will Muschamp essentially served as the Dolphins' co-coordinators in 2005.

Updating a previous report, according to MiamiDolphins.com, Miami Dolphins head coach Nick Saban has announced Will Muschamp will serve as the team's defensive assistant head coach. Among his responsibilities, Muschamp will work with the team's safeties and the nickel package.
