Former NFL LB Tedy Bruschi was critical of New England Patriots WR Chad Ochocinco during a radio interview, saying Ochocinco should spend more time learning the playbook and less time on Twitter. "Stop tweeting and get in your playbook," Bruschi said. "Wake up! If you're just waking up now - I don't know when this was, six minutes ago? - get out your bed and get to the stadium and watch some film if you still think its amazing. If you're in it and you know what you're doing and you execute out there you don't think it's amazing. You know why? Because it's what you're supposed to do. All of a sudden it's second nature ... Join the system, buddy."

Howard Ulman, of The Associated Press, reports New England Patriots LB Tedy Bruschi spent less time on the field last year than in recent seasons. He often came off the field on third downs and, entering his 14th year in the league, may do much of the same during the 2009 season. Bruschi isn't thinking about life in the NFL beyond this year; he plans to reassess his future after the upcoming season. He appears healthy at this point, but his numbers were down in 2008. He recorded just 75 tackles last season and it was the first time in his NFL career he failed to record a sack.

However, Bruschi, whose contract expires after the 2009 season, is leaving his options open. "It has to be that way, not only for me but also the team," Bruschi said. "I have to give them everything I have this year and only think about what's next. I'm going to prepare myself for this season, only think about this season, and when the season is over, which is a long ways away, then you think about delving into those decisions."

Gasper and Mike Reiss, both of The Boston Globe, report New England Patriots LB Tedy Bruschi (knee) intends to return for a 14th season as long as the Patriots want him back, according to a source with knowledge of Bruschi's thinking. Bruschi missed the final three games of the season, but if the team made the playoffs, he possibly could have played in a first-round game. He will not need surgery to repair the medial collateral ligament in his left knee.
