Namath suggested that Sparano was hired simply because he's a Bill Parcells disciple, as is Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

Money will have nothing to do with Cowher's decision, but rather he will look at what place gives him the best chance to win.
Tue, 18 Oct 2011 05:54:19 -0700 Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano said the most disappointing aspect of the team's Week 6 loss was an inability to convert on third down. The Dolphins were just two of 13 on third down. "The thing I'm most frustrated with was third downs," Sparano said. "As I showed the team last night, just in the bye week alone, we practiced third down almost 80 snaps on both sides of the football."
Mon, 03 Oct 2011 22:05:13 -0700 Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said Monday, Oct. 3, that he is staying with Tony Sparano as his head coach. "I am very disappointed, to put it mildly," Ross said. "But I think that we have to stay together and really get behind our coach. I believe that Tony is the right coach. I think all the games we have played have been really close. A league official said the matter is being reviewed, and that the NFL has no further comment. "We're going to let the process play itself out and see what the league decides down the road," Sparano said. "There's a lot of facts out there right now, a lot of information, and a lot of assumptions … I'm not a judge. I'm going to gather (information). Head coach Tony Sparano said Marshall will be out until at least the start of training camp. Fantasy Tip: If the reports about Marshall's hip surgery are true, it is a bit alarming since he underwent a hip procedure April 9, 2009. It didn't slow him down last season, and this operation could be as simple as removing excess scar tissue. All we have is speculation to go on, but we don't foresee this affecting his 2010 fantasy value as a borderline No. 1 receiver. You should become concerned if the recovery lingers well into training camp.
