New York Jets offensive coordinator Tony Sparano has been running a tight ship during offseason workouts, increasing the accountability of his players. "He definitely runs a tighter ship than I've seen from anyone before, and he's not going to let anyone slip up," TE Dustin Keller said. "I think that's when problems do arise. It's going to continue. You can tell it's not just a one day or an OTA thing, this thing is going to keep on going and going, and I think we need it."

New York Jets offensive coordinator Tony Sparano said he wants to incorporate a very physical style of offense next season, often called a "Ground & Pound" offense by head coach Rex Ryan. Sparano will have full control over the offense, meaning he will call all the plays. He is expected to go with a run-first offense, but Sparano also said he wants to have a vertical passing attack. Sparano needs to improve QB Mark Sanchez, and he is interviewing possible replacements for quarterbacks coach Matt Cavanaugh.

Former New York Jets QB Joe Namath said he didn't like the hiring of Tony Sparano as offensive coordinator. Namath does not feel Sparano is qualified for the job. "I've watched Tony work down here with the Dolphins and I thought he carried himself very well through all the adversity and all, but other than having called some plays with the Dallas Cowboys, I don't know what his credentials are for an offensive coordinator," said Namath, who lives in South Florida. Namath suggested that Sparano was hired simply because he's a Bill Parcells disciple, as is Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum.
