Updating a previous story, the Boston Globe reports the New England Patriots have signed free agent TE/FB Scott Dragos (Bears) to a one-year contract. Financial terms were not released.

The Chicago Tribune reports the New England Patriots are expected to sign Chicago Bears free agent FB Scott Dragos. The Patriots are also considering Bears free agent LB Warrick Holdman as a possible replacement for Roman Phifer and could offer Holdman a deal the Bears would not be inclined to match. The Bears would receive a fourth-round draft pick if Holdman signs elsewhere.

According to the Sun Times, FB Scott Dragos turned down a contract offer from the Houston Texans to re-sign with the Chicago Bears yesterday. The New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals had also expressed an interest in Dragos.

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports the Chicago Bears have signed free agent FB Scott Dragos to a one-year deal, $298,000 deal. He will be paid the prorated share of that and will be on the active roster.

The Boston Globe reports the New England Patriots now have two open roster spots. They took a look at free agent FB Scott Dragos and OL Barrett Brooks on Friday. Neither player has been signed at this point. Also, coach Bill Belichick said recent waiver pickup, CB Ben Kelly, may not play this season as he works to learn the team's defensive scheme which is different than Miami's.
