The team selected QB Andy Dalton in the NFL Draft. "We really have no one that's taken a real NFL snap. It's prudent to look into that area if that person is the right fit for us," said quarterbacks coach Ken Zampese.

Lewis said Bears head coach Lovie Smith was made aware of the deadline after the Bengals granted Chicago permission to speak with Zampese.
