Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports the Chicago Bears activated FB Bryan Johnson to the 53-man roster from the PUP list, a little more than 10 months after he underwent surgery on his right foot. Johnson gives the Bears a backup to FB Marc Edwards, though Johnson would figure to take over as the starter before the season is over.

Johnson, of the Chicago Tribune, reports Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith said FB Marc Edwards would remain the starting fullback no matter the decisions on FBs Jason McKie and Bryan Johnson, who will practice this week after being on the physically unable to perform list since the start of the season.

Gene Chamberlain, of the Courier News, reports the Chicago Bears planned to hold FB Marc Edwards (hamstring) out of practice Tuesday, July 26, but rain washed out the practice. Edwards is hoping for a quick recovery from a hamstring injury suffered at practice Monday, July 25. He has reached a stage in his career where he realizes he can't afford to be hurt for long. "This is the first time I've really had to go out and make the team whereas every other year I felt 100 percent sure I was going to be on the roster," said Edwards. "It shouldn't be anything too serious," Edwards said of his injury during an interview Tuesday, July 26. "I got kicked in the hammy yesterday. It's no big deal."
