The Oakland Raiders have restructured the contract of DL Richard Seymour. Seymour dropped his base salary to the league minimum ($925,000) and converted the remaining $6,575 million to a guaranteed roster bonus for cap purposes.

Oakland Raiders PK Sebastian Janikowski, P Shane Lechler, DL Richard Seymour, OT Jared Veldheer and OG Stefen Wisniewski are the only players who could be described as safe on the team's roster. QB Carson Palmer is also expected to return in 2012.

Oakland Raiders DT Richard Seymour said he is willing to restructure his contract or sign an extension if the team asked him to so they can change his salary cap number. Seymour also said he believes he has several more elite seasons left.

Oakland Raiders DL Richard Seymour's $15 million salary in 2012 became fully guaranteed a few days ago. He would have been guaranteed $7.5 million if he was released before the full salary was guaranteed.

Oakland Raiders DL Richard Seymour enters the final year of a two-year, $30-million contract in 2012. He turned 32 on Oct. 6, and his knee started to ache with more frequency last season. However, he was still selected to his seventh Pro Bowl, and was named second-team All-Pro. Seymour's six sacks in 2011 were the second-most of his career.

Oakland Raiders general manager Reggie McKenzie indicated that the team might switch from a 4-3 to 3-4 defensive alignment. "That's what I am familiar with," McKenzie said Wednesday, Jan. 11. LB Rolando McClain, DL Richard Seymour and LB Kamerion Wimbley have played in a 3-4 scheme during their NFL careers.

Raiders | Two players support Hue Jackson

Oakland Raiders WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh and DL Richard Seymour said Tuesday, Jan. 10, that head coach Hue Jackson did not lose the team down the stretch. "No, not at all," Seymour said. "I didn't hear any rumblings about that. I heard news reports make more of a deal about it than it actually was. I feel like Hue did a good job and made great strides as a coach." Houshmandzadeh also had this to say: "I don't think he lost the locker room, and I'd be eager to find a guy who didn't think he did a good job. I would be hard-pressed to find a guy who doesn't like Hue. I'll bet you San Diego, Kansas City and Denver like this move, because we would have been good next year with Hue."
