Texas Rangers 2B Luis Hernandez said Wednesday, March 28, that he is enjoying himself in camp, and is hopeful he has done enough to show he belongs with the big club when the regular season starts. He is battling INF Alberto Gonzalez for the utility infielder job.

New York Mets OF Willie Harris is starting at third base Monday, May 16, with 3B David Wright (back) sidelined. The team could recall IFs Ruben Tejada, Nick Evans or Luis Hernandez from Triple-A Buffalo in order to help out.

2Bs Justin Turner or Daniel Murphy could also be used at third base when 1B Ike Davis (ankle) returns from the disabled list.

New York Mets 2Bs Luis Castillo and Brad Emaus are the front-runners to win the job at second base, according to SportingNews.com. Castillo is batting .286 and Emaus is hitting .227 this spring. "I don't think anybody has broken away from the pack," general manager Sandy Alderson said. "One would like to see some separation, but maybe we'll see that in the next few days." 2B Daniel Murphy is likely to win a roster spot, and IFs Luis Hernandez and Justin Turner are long shots for the job.
