Former NFL OG Claude Terrell was arrested Thursday, Feb. 17, and charged with beating and forcing sex on a Texas City woman at gunpoint, according to The Telegraph. Terrell was arrested in November for assaulting the same woman. He allegedly held the woman for seven hours Monday, Feb. 14, after the woman had dropped her children off at school. Terrell has been out of football since he was released by the St. Louis Rams in 2007 following an arrest for domestic violence. He is still on probation from that arrest and could face up to life in prison for the latest charges.

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports St. Louis Rams OL Claude Terrell (wrist) will undergo season-ending surgery to repair an injured right wrist that has plagued him for virtually all of training camp. It will be his second surgery on the wrist. The first surgery occurred in early January. The latest procedure, which is expected to be extensive and of an experimental nature, will take place once Terrell settles on a surgeon. Terrell had been projected as the Rams' starting left guard entering camp. "He doesn't feel like he can play with the wrist as it is right now, and this is a recommendation from three different specialists, that this be something we try," head coach Scott Linehan said. "It's something that is an experimental procedure, but hopefully it will be something that alleviates the problem." OL Richie Incognito has claimed the starting job at left guard.

Not only has Incognito, a 6-foot-3, 305-pound Nebraska product, been impressive, but Terrell hurt himself by showing up for spring minicamps in less-than-ideal condition. Plus, he couldn't participate fully because he was recovering from the wrist operation. Terrell acknowledged that he was hurt by the demotion, especially after playing hurt. But he also conceded that new head coach Scott Linehan and his staff "had nothing to do with last year." Linehan noted that the 6-2 Terrell has dropped most of the excess baggage and is hovering near his playing weight of 330. Now, he's seeking reliability from Terrell, who also has been getting some work at right guard.

Jim Thomas, of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, reports there will be an interesting battle to be the St. Louis Rams starting left guard between OG Claude Terrell and OG Richie Incognito. "I think coach (head coach Scott Linehan) is giving everybody a fair shot," Incognito said. "I'm just trying to stay in the heat of the competition. Just trying to do my thing and stay near the top." Terrell was the starter last season, but he broke his wrist late in the season. Following wrist surgery in January, conditioning work for Terrell was put on hold. His waistline expanded, and Linehan dropped hints earlier in the spring that Terrell had anything but a stranglehold on the job. Judging from Linehan's comments Saturday, June 10, Terrell should take nothing for granted. "It's going to be competitive," Linehan said. "Claude hasn't been able to go; he's gone some this camp. He's still got the wrist issue. Richie had been working real good there, and then he gets the hand thing."

Incognito moved ahead of last year's rookie starter, OL Claude Terrell, during OTAs or organized team activities held between minicamps. "I'm working hard, learning the plays, trying not to make too many mistakes," Incognito said. "Trying to make no mistakes. I'm just going to do my thing and work hard and we'll see when training camp comes around." Incognito is making his move while Terrell (wrist) recuperates from surgery on his right wrist. "He's been great," Rams' head coach Scott Linehan said. "He's another one of those guys that's had a great offseason in the weight room."
