The Houston Texans announced the rest of their coaching staff Thursday, Feb. 6, and that staff will not include an offensive coordinator. Jim Bernhardt (Director of Football Research), John Butler (secondary), Doug Colman (assistant special teams), Paul Dunn (offensive line), Craig Fitzgerald (head strength and conditioning), George Godsey (quarterbacks), Sean Hayes (assistant strength and conditioning), Stan Hixon (wide receivers), Tim Kelly (offensive quality control), Will Lawing (defensive quality control), Charles London (running backs), Anthony Midget (assistant secondary), John Perry (tight ends), Anthony Pleasant (assistant strength and conditioning) and Mike Vrabel (linebackers).

"I've talked to Anthony," Belichick said. "He's shared some feelings with me. He's a smart guy. He's very perceptive and he's been very helpful to me throughout his career both as a player and having a perspective of what the coach is looking for and how that can blend together with what the player needs."

Len Pasquarelli reports for ESPN.com New England Patriots DE Anthony Pleasant has signed a new contract with the team. The deal included a modest increase in his base salary for the 2002 season. Pleasant increased his base salary from $750,000 to $1.187 million. Because the deal was signed in-season, the base salary was prorated to $1.111 million. The increase of $360,000 bumped Pleasant's cap number by a like amount, to $1.504 million.

According to the Boston Globe, it appears New England Patriots WR Troy Brown, despite being questionable with a leg injury, will play Sunday. DE Anthony Pleasant(flu) and OL Greg Robinson-Randall(ankle) didn't practice Thursday. OL Matt Light practiced with a red jersey yesterday. There is a possibility Light could play Sunday. Just in case, Kenyatta Jones has been given plenty of work at left tackle.

As an update to previous reports, New England Patriots CB Terrence Shaw received a two-year deal from the team. He'll have base salaries of $477,000 (2001) and $1.5 million (2002). DL Anthony Pleasant received a three-year deal. Pleasant will have base salaries of $500,000 (2001), $850,000 (2002) and $2.5 million (2003).

The Boston Globe reports after signing DL Anthony Pleasant, there was talk the Patriots would also add his friend, former Jets DL Ernie Logan. Logan is visiting Dallas this week, and Miami appears to have some interest as well. The team made an offer to DT Ted Washington, but at $2 million per season, agent Angelo Wright said it was too low. Wright reportedly may be on the verge of a $3 millions per season deal in Chicago. Before signing free agent FB Marc Edwards, the Patriots had made inquiries about bringing back Sam Gash.

Nick Cafardo reports for the Boston Globe the New England Patriots may be preparing an offer sheet to New York Jets restricted free agent QB Ray Lucas. He was scheduled to visit with the Patriots in the next couple of days, weather permitting. Lucas carries no compensation, but the Jets can match any offer. Also, free agent DE Anthony Pleasant (49ers) visited the Patriots yesterday.
