Mon, 07 Sep 2009 05:52:57 -0700 ESPN.com reports former Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Turk Schonert told a Buffalo television station he was fired because the team's offense was not simple enough for head coach Dick Jauron. "He wants a 'Pop Warner' offense," Schonert said in a phone interview with WIVB. "He limited me in formations, and limited me in plays. He's been on my back all offseason." Schonert added, "He (Jauron) told me the offense wasn't simple enough for him. We had too many formations, too many plays. I didn't simplify it to his liking."

Offensive coordinator Turk Schonert was frustrated with the offense after the team did not line up properly on only the fifth play from scrimmage in 11-on-11 drills. "We've got to know formation," Schonert yelled. A few plays later, which was in a no-huddle offense, a snap went over QB Trent Edwards' head and Schonert told the offense to huddle up every play because the offense can't handle the no-huddle portion of the offense.

"Ideally you want the same system so you don't have to start from a complete ground zero. Even when a new coordinator comes in you still have to get used to how he calls games and things like that. From a system standpoint, being in the same system would go a long way," Evans said.
