Jets | NYJ wants to see Matt Forte in action

Sun, 21 Aug 2016 17:32:24 -0700

New York Jets RB Matt Forte could "get a few snaps in" during next week's preseason game against the New York Giants if head coach Todd Bowles gets his wish, according to SNY reporter Ralph Vacchiano.

Fantasy Tip: Forte has reportedly impressed in practices recently after missing a significant portion of the early part of training camp. The longtime Chicago Bear isn't a great bet to return to RB1 status in New York since he will be sharing backfield touches with Bilal Powell and, to a lesser extent, Khiry Robinson, but he should still be a factor as a midrange RB2 in PPR formats.

Jets | NYJ open to keeping four QBs

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 13:51:00 -0700

New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles said it is conceivable that the Jets will keep four quarterbacks on their 53-man roster.

Fantasy Tip: Ryan Fitzpatrick is the only Jets quarterback that fantasy owners should care about this season. He will have most of his receivers back this season and can be a low-end No. 1 or high-end No. 2 quarterback in most leagues.

Jets | Todd Bowles won't be involved in offense

Mon, 25 Jul 2016 10:54:23 -0700

New York Jets head coach Todd Bowles will not be heavily involved in the offense despite uncertainty at the quarterback position. "I know what's going on and I trust Chan completely. I know the plays we run and I know what everybody is supposed to do, right or wrong. I understand busted assignments and things like that. I'm up to speed because I've been in the offense a year as well."

Jets | Bryce Petty has work to do

Sun, 27 Mar 2016 13:14:06 -0700

New York Jets QB Bryce Petty has done enough to create optimism regarding his ability to start for the franchise someday, but head coach Todd Bowles believes he needs to improve his pocket presence first in order to make that a reality.

Fantasy Tip: It's hardly a shock since Petty was drafted as a project and essentially played every snap of his college career at Baylor out of the shotgun. He may not be too far away from becoming the Jets' starter, however, if Ryan Fitzpatrick leaves New York, which would leave Petty and Geno Smith as the only realistic options under center. Neither Smith nor Petty should be considered anything more than a low-end QB2 should they become the starter in 2016.

Jets | Big things expected from Lorenzo Mauldin

Sat, 26 Mar 2016 15:23:18 -0700

New York Jets LB Lorenzo Mauldin excelled in a situational pass-rushing role in 2015, and head coach Todd Bowles believes he can develop into an every-down player this season. "I'm expecting big things from him this year," Bowles said.

Jets | Three Jets limited Wednesday

Wed, 30 Dec 2015 12:45:19 -0800

New York Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) and RBs Chris Ivory (knee) and Bilal Powell (ankle) were limited in practice Wednesday, Dec. 30. Head coach Todd Bowles said Fitzpatrick's injury is not serious.

Fantasy Tip: These guys will need to be tracked as the week goes on, but it doesn't sound like any of them are in serious doubt of missing the last game of the season. The Buffalo Bills have been mediocre defending both the pass and the run this year, so Fitzpatrick ($7,500, 15.0% of cap) and Ivory ($6,100, 12.2%) are still decent plays, while Powell ($4,900, 9.8%) has more value in PPR leagues like FantasyScore.

Jets | Defensive backs hurting

Mon, 09 Nov 2015 14:54:22 -0800

New York Jets SS Calvin Pryor (ankle) is still a ways away from returning and S Dion Bailey (ankle) suffered a high-ankle sprain in Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to head coach Todd Bowles. CB Antonio Cromartie (thigh) is dealing with a deep thigh bruise and has a 50-50 chance of playing this week.

Jets | Ryan Fitzpatrick out with thumb injury

Sun, 01 Nov 2015 14:54:20 -0800

New York Jets QB Ryan Fitzpatrick (thumb) will miss the remainder of the game Sunday, Nov. 1, with a left thumb injury. Jets coach Todd Bowles indicated Fitzpatrick had a ligament issue with his thumb. QB Geno Smith is in the game at quarterback.

Fantasy Tip: Fitzpatrick ($5,700, 11.4% of cap) will likely miss an extended period of time, but don't get too used to Smith ($4,500, 9.0% of cap) at the helm. The Oakland Raiders were beating the Jets in convincing fashion, and the Jets front office is already working the phones trying to find QB help. Stay tuned to see where this lands.

Jets | Will use two tight ends

Thu, 21 May 2015 11:58:40 -0700

New York Jets coach Todd Bowles plans to use a package with two tight ends, including TE Jeff Cumberland and TE Jace Amaro. Cumberland will be a traditional tight end and Amaro will line up in a halfback-style position.

Fantasy Tip: In this set, Amaro could be more explosive because he could run all over the field and cause havoc on defenses. Both players will be decent options, but Amaro could post good numbers.

Jets | Running back situation up in the air

Thu, 21 May 2015 11:51:04 -0700

New York Jets coach Todd Bowles said his team's running back situation may take until the preseason to sort out. RBs Chris Ivory, Bilal Powell, Zac Stacy, Stevan Ridley and Daryl Richardson all have experience at the position, but no one has broken out yet.

Fantasy Tip: Bowles said the team could keep as many as four backs, but it begs the question of which one to start. For now, this situation is too volatile, but be prepared to move one up your draft board if someone looks explosive in preseason games.
