Buffalo Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick said he does not think the team was ready to handle the early season success they had early this season. Fitzpatrick threw 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions in the first seven games of the season but threw eight touchdowns and 12 interceptions during the team's seven-game losing streak.

Buffalo Bills head coach Chan Gailey said he believes QB Ryan Fitzpatrick will cut down on his interceptions next season because he will get some of the team's injured wide receivers back and the team should not be facing big deficits that would require them to throw more than they want. Fitzpatrick threw 10 of his 14 second half interceptions when the team was losing by at least 10 points in a game.

Buffalo Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick said Monday, Jan. 2, he would like the team to re-sign WR Stevie Johnson, who will be a free agent in the offseason. "If you look at what Steve has done with the two 1,000-yard seasons in a row, it's really the first two years Steve has played," Fitzpatrick said. "I feel like a lot of what I've done and a lot of the success I've had since I've been here has been because of him. And the success that he's had, a lot of it's been because of me ... I know that they know I want him back. He knows I want him back. He wants to be here. We'll see how it turns out. But I'm a better player with Stevie on my team. I feel he's a better player with me as his quarterback."

Buffalo Bills QB Ryan Fitzpatrick racked up 3,832 receiving yards to rank third on the team's all-time single season passing yardage list. However, he also had 23 interceptions, which are the most by a Bills QB since Joe Ferguson was picked off 25 times in 1983. "I think disappointment is probably the best word to describe it," Fitzpatrick said Monday, Jan. 2. "It was a very up-and-down 16 games obviously for me, but I think I learned a lot." Head coach Chan Gailey said he has a "great deal of confidence" in his QB.

Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson gave full support to QB Ryan Fitzpatrick while saying the criticism directed at him was unfair. Wilson blamed Fitzpatrick's struggles on a rash of injuries that have hampered the offense, and the lack of a supporting cast. "We've got to get receivers. If he hasn't gotten anybody to throw to, he's not going to win many games," Wilson said. Fitzpatrick has been the target of criticism in going 1-7 since signing his new contract. After throwing 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions in helping the team to a 5-2 start, Fitzpatrick has thrown eight touchdowns and 12 interceptions during the seven-game skid.
