Dallas Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware (shoulder) has regained full range of motion in his surgically repaired right shoulder, and he has resumed lifting weights. He is hopeful of participating in some of the team's organized team activities (OTAs) in May, and the mandatory minicamp in June. Ware vows to be 100 percent for training camp. "It feels really good right now, but I hadn't had any impact yet," Ware said.

Dallas Cowboys DE DeMarcus Ware said QB Tony Romo has a responsibility to step up his game even further after signing a contract extension. "I feel like everybody is deserving to whatever is given to him, but at the end of the day, to me it's put up or shut up," Ware said. "I'm just being straight-up honest with you. Get out there and be productive, and that's with any player. Whatever they get, they're deserving of it. You just got to get out there and play and I know he can be and will be the quarterback that is going to be the quarterback that is going to take us to the next level."

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware said he does not expect any problems in his transition to a defensive end in a 4-3 defensive alignment because he has played the position before. "In college I played the 4-3," Ware said. "It's usually just being aggressive (in) getting to the quarterback, stopping the run from a defensive end standpoint. But I've been playing the 3-4 for eight years, so I have gotten comfortable with that." Ware does not think he will need to put on any more weight to play defensive end.

Dallas Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware said he was disappointed to see former defensive coordinator Rob Ryan relieved of his duties. Ware believes Ryan is a good teacher. "He was one of the best coaches I've ever played for, really teaching me how to play and think like a linebacker," Ware said. "I had to go in there and know all the drops the inside backers would have and I had to know all the formations, knowing the skill of the game, he really taught me that a lot."

Dallas Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware said Thursday, Jan. 31, there's a good possibility the window is closing on his team to win a Super Bowl. In order to be a contender still, Ware said the team needs to play more consistently and cut back on turnovers in big games. "We haven't been that consistent team that we need to be," Ware said. "Everybody tells us the opportunity, the gate is closing, the door is closing. The door is always closing each year because it's a business deal to have certain guys on the team."

Dallas Cowboys scouting director Larry Lacewell said Friday, Jan. 11, that LB DeMarcus Ware, who is expected to move to defensive end, might be fresher in 2013 since he won't have to drop in coverage, limiting the amount he has to run. Dallas Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware (shoulder, elbow) said Wednesday, Jan. 9, that he will undergo surgery on his right shoulder Thursday, Jan. 10. He hopes to be cleared to return to the field on time for training camp. Ware was bothered for much of the season with a posterior torn labrum, which caused his shoulder to pop in and out of place. It has yet to be determined whether Ware will also undergo surgery for a hyperextended right elbow. Ware will obviously not be able to participate in the Pro Bowl.

"I think we're going to have to watch how many plays we give him," defensive coordinator Rob Ryan said Saturday, Dec. 29. Ware said earlier in the week that he will wear a harness over a shoulder that keeps popping out and might require surgery during the offseason. He is also wearing a brace to protect a hyperextended elbow.
