Thu, 14 Feb 2013 04:25:45 -0800 Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson said he plans to run an attacking offense with a heavy emphasis on playaction, designed to get RB Darren McFadden back on track. Olson also wants to feature FB Marcel Reece.
Thu, 14 Feb 2013 03:56:23 -0800 Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson said it will be important to see what QB Terrelle Pryor can do during offseason workouts and minicamps to get a better sense of what the team has at the quarterback position. The Raiders want to know whether Pryor can do for them what San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick did this past season. "If you have a guy that can stay there and play 65 plays a game and do those things and also be able to throw the ball from point A to point B accurately, if he possesses those skills as well, then you certainly have something," Olson said. "So that's what we'll have to find out with Terrelle Pryor. We know what kind of an athlete he is. We need to find out what kind of decision maker he is, and we need to find out if he's a guy that can also sit in the pocket and deliver the ball from point A to point B accurately and on time and making the right decisions." Fantasy Tip: This is the third public endorsement Pryor has received from the team since season's end. General manager Reggie McKenzie and head coach Dennis Allen have been on record as saying Pryor will compete for the starting job with Carson Palmer. If Pryor can show he has any command of the team's new scheme during offseason workouts, he may very well end up as the starter in 2013. At this point, Palmer still appears safe; however, this situation must be monitored closely during training camp.
Sat, 19 Jan 2013 04:33:22 -0800 New Oakland Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olson is expected to run a downhill, power-run attack. The team ran a zone-blocking scheme this season. Fantasy Tip: Oakland's shift back to a power-running scheme should benefit Darren McFadden, who has shown during his career he is not effective in a zone scheme. He averaged just 3.3 yards per carry in 2012.
