St. Louis Rams WR Danny Amendola said new offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer's scheme is a big reason for his early success. Amendola leads the NFL in receptions (20) and is third in yards (230). "So far in the NFL this is my fourth offense, and Schotty's offense is the most intricate one, at the same time it has a mixture of all of them," Amendola said. "It's very effective, it has the capability of making big plays, and we are all excited about it."

St. Louis Rams QB Sam Bradford said he is working with offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer to fix and ultimately speed up his pocket mechanics. Bradford has absorbed 70 sacks in 26 career games through two seasons. "That's a lot of what I've talked about with Schotty so far," Bradford said. "Two days ago in camp, I thought I had a really good practice. I'm not sure the ball hit the ground once. And we got in the film room, and (Schottenheimer) was all over me about getting the ball out of my hands even quicker, to eliminate hits. He's made it a big point ... It's part of my job to help the protection and get the ball out of my hands and make sure that, even if it's not a sack, I'm eliminating the unnecessary hits."

The heir apparent is offensive line coach Bill Callahan; however, Callahan's contract is up after the season, according to a league source, and he could be an attractive coordinator candidate on the open market, especially if Jon Gruden decides to return to the sideline. "I know Brian takes a ton of the heat, he's taken heat. Sanchez has taken heat," Ryan said. "I'm taking heat, that's fine. It should be on me. It shouldn't be on coaches, players or whatever. They attempted 68 passes and just 25 rushes. Schottenheimer's contract runs through 2013, but if the Jets are looking for someone to pay should they miss the playoffs, he would be the most likely candidate. Head coach Rex Ryan is not going anywhere and they are not giving up on QB Mark Sanchez.

"I hope that's the feeling (around the team), it should be," Tomlinson said. "If we want to be champions like we say we want to be, we have to hold each other accountable as players, and not blame it on the coaches all the time. We have to get the job done." The Jets are ranked 28th in total offense and 13th in scoring. The unit has produced a total of only 405 yards in the last two games.

New York Jets WR Santonio Holmes was unhappy about his role in the team's offensive game plan for the AFC Championship Game, according to Jenny Vrentas, of The Star-Ledger. Holmes was not on the field for the first snap of the game. "Ask Coach Schottenheimer what was the reason behind that," Holmes said, referring to offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer. Holmes said he watched from the sidelines "the first couple plays" of the 24-19 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Holmes also indicated that he thought the Jets strayed from their offensive game plan. "We've got to put together the plays that we've been running against these guys, what's been working for us," Holmes said. "We kind of got away from our game plan in the game, and it forced us to go do what we have to do to survive."

Offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer said one key will be the top receivers being "interchangeable" and able to "move all around" the field - an aim which they spent the offseason working toward, starting with new assignments. WR Jerricho Cotchery, who played the "Z" receiver, or flanker, last season, learned the intricacies of the slot position. WR Braylon Edwards, who has played the "X" receiver, or split end, for the past three seasons, was asked to master the flanker spot. WR Santonio Holmes has absorbed as much as he can starting with his familiar split end position.
