San Francisco 49ers DB Nate Clements has moved inside as the nickel back on passing downs this week with DB Tarell Brown playing on the outside, reports CSNBayArea.com's Matt Maiocco. "His size and speed and his ability inside with his body frame and movement skills is the reason we put him in there," defensive coordinator Greg Manusky said of Clements. "It's always tough to find those nickel guys who can cover a tight end or a bigger receiver inside. And he's doing a good job of it." Clements isn't as small as typical cornerbacks that cover the slot receiver, but he believes he'll be able to use his physical style to knock smaller receivers off their routes. Clements will continue to start at left cornerback when there are only two receivers on the field.
