Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis announced Tuesday, April 22, that LB David Pollack (neck) will retire. Pollack suffered a broken neck while making a tackle Sept. 17 of 2006. Lewis said Pollack told him that he was not comfortable with his neck medically despite being cleared to play.

Bengals | Pollack to meet with doctors to see if can play again

Mark Curnutte, of The Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals LB David Pollack (neck) will meet with Dr. Anthony Guanciale Friday, Feb. 8, to discuss if he will be able to play football again. Pollack has maintained his playing weight in case he is able to play next season. If he is cleared to play, Pollack wants to play defensive end. If he is not cleared to play, he will likely retire.

Cincinnati Bengals LB David Pollack (neck), who underwent surgery Jan. 3 to repair his neck fracture, issued a statement about his possible football future. "I haven't given up on the possibility of playing football again, but any decision on that is a way down the road," Pollack said. "My recovery is not complete. I've got a ton of work to do with doctors and trainers, and my neck just has to finish healing. We're going to take all of that one day at a time."

Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals LB David Pollack (neck) could return to the team next season, according to Pollack's agent, R.J. Gonser. Gonser said in an interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that doctors have told Pollack a return to football in 2007 is a possibility. "That's (Pollack's) goal," Gonser said. Pollack is expected to wear a neck brace for about another month.

The Cincinnati Bengals have announced LB David Pollack (neck) underwent surgery Wednesday, Jan. 3, on his neck to repair the injury he suffered on the field earlier in the season. The surgery went without complications and Pollack will be monitored closely for the next few months. It is not yet clear as to whether or not Pollack will be able to return to the field.

Pollack said, "If I'm not more likely to get hurt again, then I'll play. If I am, then I won't. Cut and dry. It's a very real possibility that I won't play again. At the end of it, if the doctor says I'm 5 percent more likely to get injured again, there's a 0 percent chance I'll ever play again. That's a fact."

Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals LB David Pollack (neck) has an upcoming doctor's appointment Wednesday, Dec. 13, which will determine whether or not he can return to football after suffering a fracture in the C-6 vertebra in his neck. "If I'm not more likely to get hurt again, then I'll play," Pollack said. "If I am, then I won't. Cut and dry. It's a very real possibility that I won't play again. Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports Cincinnati Bengals LB David Pollack (neck) could return to the football field if his C-6 vertebra continues to heal properly, although it is still too early to determine whether or not that will be the case. "Right now we know that it's healing and we know that I'm coming along," Pollack said. "It's a mild fracture. It could be worse. It could be a complete fracture. It's not near my spinal cord, which is awesome."

Mark Curnutte, of the Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals LB David Pollack (neck) was released from hospital Tuesday, Sept. 19, and will be wearing a stabilizing halo for approximately the next 12 weeks. "The main thing is he does have a C-6 (vertebra) fracture," said Dr. Anthony Guanciale. "His fracture was mild to moderate. His neurological status is normal. He has no spinal cord involvement or injury."

Geoff Hobson, of Bengals.com, reports Cincinnati Bengals LB David Pollack (neck) suffered "a significant neck injury" during the Week 2 game and could be lost for the rest of the season. Pollack was taken off the field on a stretcher, but he was able to move all of his extremities and remained conscious. He is expected to spend the night in University Hospital.

The Associated Press reports Cincinnati Bengals LB David Pollack (neck) injured his neck while making a tackle during the Week 2 game. He was carted off the field and will be taken for X-rays as a precaution. Pollack remained conscious and he had full feeling in all of his extremities.

Bill Rabinowitz, of the Columbus Dispatch, reports Cincinnati Bengals LB David Pollack knows his holdout last season slowed his progress from college to the NFL. He has added five pound of muscle and hired a personal trainer to supplement his regular work with the team. "I worked out with the Bengals in the morning and with him in the evening," said Pollack. "Tomorrow, I'll be out here for hundreds of reps. That's something I need. I need to be drilled and get in great shape and keep going through every coverage in my head so I know what I'm supposed to be and do so when I get on the field on Sundays there's no thinking. It's just instinct and playing. That's when it's fun. It's not fun when you're thinking the whole time. It's fun when you can just let it loose and let it all hang out."

Jonathan Huntington, of the Edmonton Sun, reports Cincinnati Bengals LB Rashad Jeanty will be in a battle for a roster spot at training camp. "I am feeling great," he exclaimed from the Chicago airport late Friday afternoon, July 28, as he was waiting to board a flight to Cincinnati. "I still have a long way to go to learn the system, but I'm looking forward to getting on the field." He impressed Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis in the middle of January at a tryout workout, sparking the contract offer, and he continued to turn heads with the Cincinnati coaching staff this spring through mini camps. Jeanty is currently listed third on the SAM-linebacker depth chart and appears to be in for a tough fight behind LBs David Pollack and Hannibal Navies.

Chick Ludwig, of the Dayton Daily News, reports Cincinnati Bengals LB David Pollack (foot) wouldn't address the nature or extent of a left foot injury that kept him out of practice. However, he's no longer wearing a protective boot on the injured foot.
