The Green Bay Packers have officially announced Lionel Washington has been hired. He will work with the secondary. His exact title and responsibilities will be determined at a later time.

Tom Silverstein, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy is expected to interview secondary coach Lionel Washington for a position on his defensive staff. Washington is under contract next season and there's little doubt that he will be retained.

Updating previous reports, the Green Bay Packers have promoted assistant defensive backs coach Lionel Washington, to oversee the defensive nickel package, as well as coach the cornerbacks.

Bob McGinn, of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, reports the Green Bay Packers contacted Leslie Frazier Tuesday, Feb. 8, about the possibility of becoming their secondary coach. Frazier, who served as the Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator the past two seasons, said he is one of several candidates for the job opening. "They've got some guys that are coming in and they're talking to," Frazier said. "They wanted to see what my interest was and they'd get back." As reported, the Packers are expected to promote assistant secondary coach Lionel Washington to the position.
