Smith will likely wait until after the season before signing WR Vincent Jackson to a contract extension. Jackson's current deal runs out after this season, but if there is no new collective bargaining agreement and no salary cap by 2010, Jackson is among the team's players who will be restricted free agents in 2010 and be much cheaper to keep.
