Eagles | Darren Sproles gets into end zone

Sun, 04 Dec 2016 20:33:22 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles rushed seven times for just 14 yards, but he was able to score a rushing touchdown in the Week 13 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He also had six receptions for 35 yards on six targets.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles is healthy after dealing with a rib injury and he remains a solid play in most PPR fantasy formats. He has less value in standard leagues.

Eagles | Eight touches for Darren Sproles

Mon, 28 Nov 2016 20:51:56 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (ribs) rushed three times for just six yards in the Week 12 game against the Green Bay Packers Monday, Nov. 28. He added five receptions for 48 yards on seven targets.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles also had one long reception in the second half nullified by a holding penalty. Fantasy owners can't complain too much, as this is what he does. He is a solid flex option in PPR leagues, and more of an RB4 in standard formats.

Eagles | Darren Sproles not on injury report

Sat, 26 Nov 2016 12:20:29 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (rib) fully participated in practice Saturday, Nov. 26, and is not on the injury report for Week 12.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles should share work with Wendell Smallwood in Week 12 and probably will be more involved in passing game. He should be considered a flex option in most leagues but can be a low-end No. 2 running back in deeper point-per-reception leagues.

Eagles | Darren Sproles expected to play

Sat, 26 Nov 2016 10:14:17 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (rib) is set to play Week 12 against the Green Bay Packers.

Fantasy Tip: This has been the expectation, as Sproles practiced in full all week. With Ryan Mathews ruled out, it is quite possible the veteran will go back to being the lead back as well, although Wendell Smallwood is going to be involved one way the other. Sproles should be considered a RB3/flex option with RB2 upside this week.

Eagles | Darren Sproles practices

Fri, 25 Nov 2016 13:09:49 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (rib) fully participated in practice Friday, Nov. 25.

Fantasy Tip: It appears like Sproles will be able to play in Week 12 as long as he can handle the pain. He probably would share work with Wendell Smallwood if Ryan Mathews is not able to play. Sproles can be a flex option on most leagues if he is active for the game.

Eagles | Darren Sproles takes part in practice

Thu, 24 Nov 2016 09:32:49 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (rib) fully participated in practice Thursday, Nov. 24.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Sproles has a solid chance to play this week despite his injury. He could receive more work than usual if Ryan Mathews misses the game. He has been able to produce in the running and passing game over the last several weeks and can be at least a flex option if he plays.

Eagles | Darren Sproles sits Wednesday

Wed, 23 Nov 2016 08:35:17 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (rib) is out of practice Wednesday, Nov. 23.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles hasn't been very useful in fantasy the last few games, but he did have eight grabs two weeks ago against Atlanta. He's a risky flex against the Green Bay Packers, and he doesn't warrant consideration outside of PPR leagues.

Eagles | Darren Sproles has fractured rib

Mon, 21 Nov 2016 09:59:31 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (rib) has been diagnosed with a rib fracture, but he is expected to be "good" for Week 12 as the injury is in a "safe area", according to The Philadelphia Inquirer's Zach Berman.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds as if owners can plan on having him available next Monday against the decimated Green Bay Packers defense. While it is a good bet Philadelphia will choose to attack Green Bay with its running backs, it is much more of a mystery if the Eagles will their plethora of backs to pound away at the Packers on the ground or get Sproles out in space. With so little clarity in the Philly backfield, owners should consider all Eagles' backs flex plays at best.

Eagles | Darren Sproles injures ribs

Sun, 20 Nov 2016 15:59:45 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles WR Darren Sproles (ribs) left the Week 11 game against the Seattle Seahawks due to an injury to his ribs and he did not return.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles joined Ryan Mathews on the sidelines. If both are forced to miss time going forward it would be rookie Wendell Smallwood and Kenjon Barner seeing a bump in touches.

Eagles | Darren Sproles totals 10 touches

Sun, 13 Nov 2016 18:28:10 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles rushed two times for 19 yards in the Week 10 game against the Atlanta Falcons and he added eight receptions for 57 yards on 10 targets.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles had briefly climbed ahead of Ryan Mathews in the pecking order for carries, but he was behind both Mathews and rookie Wendell Smallwood for carries Sunday. Sproles remains a decent PPR fantasy option heading into Week 11, but he is a risky play in standard leagues with a difficult matchup in Seattle.

Eagles | Darren Sproles the lead back in Philly

Mon, 07 Nov 2016 09:35:51 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles has officially moved to the front of the team's running back committee, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles owns a 28-9 advantage in carries over former lead back Ryan Mathews over the last two weeks, but the latter has kept pace with him in fantasy by scoring a touchdown each time. Unfortunately for Sproles and his owners, his "promotion" hasn't resulted in much of an increase in fantasy production. The 33-year-old back's lone touchdown this season came on a receiving score in Week 3. He should be considered a flex play at best moving forward.

Eagles | Darren Sproles sees 16 touches

Sun, 06 Nov 2016 16:22:13 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles carried 13 times for 57 yards in the Week 9 game against the New York Giants, and he added three receptions for 14 yards on nine targets.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles had 16 total touches to six for Ryan Mathews, two for Wendell Smallwood and one for Kenjon Barner. He is the top fantasy option in the crowded backfield heading into Week 10 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Eagles | Darren Sproles running well

Wed, 02 Nov 2016 19:58:36 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles is averaging 6.6 yards per carry over the last four games, and he has played more snaps than RB Ryan Mathews in all seven games the two have played together this season.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles' role and production have been increasing, and he is worth a look as a flex play in Week 9, especially in PPR formats.

Eagles | Darren Sproles could become primary RB

Mon, 31 Oct 2016 19:05:06 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles could take over as the team's primary running back. Head coach Doug Pederson said Monday, Oct. 31, that he is considering replacing RB Ryan Mathews with Sproles. "I can't say that 100 percent," Pederson said. "It's something we'll evaluate in these next couple of days and make that determination."

Fantasy Tip: Sproles has been a very useful, and he is on pace for a career-high 105 carries and 1,040 yards from scrimmage this year. Sproles is still way more useful in fantasy formats which reward points per reception (PPR), but he is a decent flex play in standard leagues, too.

Eagles | Darren Sproles busy in Week 8

Mon, 31 Oct 2016 07:27:21 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles played 63 of 81 offensive snaps Sunday, Oct. 30, against the Dallas Cowboys.

Fantasy Tip: He had 15 rushes for 86 yards and five grabs for 17 yards in what was by far his best game of the season. It's hard to see his usage continuing this way at the age of 33, though, and he's still a risky flex consideration in PPR leagues.

Eagles | Darren Sproles totals 68 yards

Sun, 09 Oct 2016 17:26:55 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles posted five runs for a team-high 45 yards in Week 5 against the Detroit Lions and he added four receptions for 23 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles should be a considered an RB3 in most standard fantasy leagues, and a low-end RB2 in formats which reward points per reception (PPR) heading into Week 6 against the Washington Redskins.

Eagles | Darren Sproles totals 14 touches

Mon, 19 Sep 2016 21:44:12 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles posted 12 carries for a game-high 40 yards in the Week 2 game against the Chicago Bears Monday, Sept. 19. He also had two receptions for eight yards, leading all Philly tailbacks with 14 touches.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles might been seeing an extra workload with Ryan Mathews dealing with a hand injury. It's a situation to watch heading into Week 3, although it's a difficult matchup for fantasy purposes against the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers.

Eagles | Darren Sproles to see time as receiver

Fri, 09 Sep 2016 18:26:20 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles will be used more as a receiver than a running back this season, and Sproles said he believes the offense will play to his strengths.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles could end up being a sneaky flex option in PPR formats if the Eagles are committed to using him in the passing game. He is a roll-of-the-dice play in Week 1, but he is a solid stash candidate.

Eagles | Darren Sproles best back in Philly?

Sun, 07 Aug 2016 15:15:24 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles is the "best running back on the team", according to NJ.com reporter Eliot Shorr-Parks.

Fantasy Tip: The statement appears to be a shot at Ryan Mathews, although Shorr-Parks could easily be referring to the Eagles' lack of healthy bodies at the position since Mathews and rookie Wendell Smallwood have both missed practice time due to injuries. Even at 33, Sproles is one of the better receiving backs in the league and figures to be a fine player to round out the back end of a fantasy roster as a RB5 in deeper leagues.

Eagles | Darren Sproles still has something left

Sat, 30 Jul 2016 13:02:05 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles believes he can play two more years, according to his trainer Todd Durkin. "He has not lost a step, and I've seen guys lose steps. He does what no one else does. He does all the little things extremely well, he doesn't take days off. He takes really, really good care of his body. His nutrition is impeccable, his mindset is strong," Durkin said.

Fantasy Tip: The Eagles took the unusual step of extending the contract of their 33-year-old back through the end of the 2017 season on Friday, but it makes sense. Sproles is a strong leader and locker-room presence, not to mention one of the best receiving backs in NFL history. He is worth a late-round pick in PPR leagues as the heavy favorite for passing-down work, while Ryan Mathews should see the majority of early-down snaps.

Eagles | Darren Sproles inks extension

Fri, 29 Jul 2016 05:41:18 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles signed a one-year, $4.5 million extension Friday, July 29. The two sides had worked on it since June.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles doesn't figure to run the ball a lot, but he'll be active in the passing game. He's an RB3 candidate in PPR leagues.

Eagles | Sam Bradford working out with teammates

Wed, 06 Jul 2016 15:30:17 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Sam Bradford is working out with several of his teammates in San Diego leading up to training camp. QBs Chase Daniel and Carson Wentz, RB Darren Sproles, WRs Jordan Matthews, Josh Huff, T.J. Graham and Rueben Randle and TE Zach Ertz are among the players participating in the workouts.

Fantasy Tip: Bradford is trying to build chemistry with his receivers so they can start the season off strong. Bradford should only be considered as a No. 2 quarterback in fantasy leagues. Matthews and Ertz will be among the leaders in targets for the Eagles this season and likely will be selected in the middle rounds of drafts. Sproles should have a role in the running and passing game in 2016 and could be a late-round option who will have more value in point-per-reception leagues. Huff and Randle are only late-round options in deeper leagues.

Eagles | Running back committee in Philly?

Sun, 12 Jun 2016 12:12:05 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews has taken most of the first-team repetitions out of the backfield this offseason, but RBs Kenjon Barner and Darren Sproles shared those reps with Mathews, too. Head coach Doug Pederson expects a committee with those three backs and RB Wendell Smallwood.

Fantasy Tip: Mathews should still be the first Philadelphia running back taken in fantasy drafts, at least for standard formats. Sproles is a PPR delight and is worth a low-end RB2 to high-end RB3 spot in those formats.

Eagles | Darren Sproles happy where he is

Wed, 08 Jun 2016 14:00:36 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (personal) missed time this offseason because of a family matter. Sproles said he is content with his current contract and content in Philadelphia.

Fantasy Tip: It sounds like Sproles is good to go for the rest of the offseason and the regular season. He should maintain his role as the primary passing-down running back for the Eagles and is worth a look as a low-end RB2 to high-end RB3 in PPR leagues.

Eagles | Darren Sproles reports for minicamp

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 10:28:15 -0700

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles reported for the start of mandatory minicamp Monday, June 6, after missing all of the organized team activities. Sproles said he missed the workouts because of family issues and that the team knew about them. He said reports that he was looking for a new contract or to be traded were false.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles should have a decent role on offense if he stays with the team because DeMarco Murray was traded during the offseason. He likely will be more involved in the passing game, which makes him more valuable in point-per-receptions leagues. Sproles should be a solid flex option in most leagues.

Eagles | Darren Sproles to attend camp

Mon, 06 Jun 2016 07:44:58 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles will attend the mandatory minicamp this week.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles has had a tornado of trade rumors swirling around him. With DeMarco Murray out of town, he could have a bigger role on the Eagles. However, he doesn't run much anymore and is primarily a receiver out of the backfield. That makes him a low-end RB3 in PPR leagues.

Eagles | Darren Sproles to arrive next week

Fri, 03 Jun 2016 07:14:38 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles and DT Fletcher Cox are expected to be present at next week's mandatory camp, according to head coach Doug Pederson.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles should have a significant role in the offense behind Ryan Mathews with DeMarco Murray no longer in the picture in 2016. However, he'll have to learn a completely new offense, and he's no spring chicken these days at 32 years old. He has more worth in PPR leagues as more of a flex-type player.

Eagles | Kenjon Barner working with starters

Mon, 30 May 2016 02:51:57 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Kenjon Barner has been working with the starters during OTAs with RB Ryan Mathews (groin) slowed by injury and RB Darren Sproles not participating, and beat writer Eliot Shorr-Parks believes Barner's edge over Mathews in speed and agility could earn him the starting job permanently.

Fantasy Tip: Mathews could still end up seeing a lot of the early-down work, but Barner is worth grabbing in the later rounds, especially in PPR leagues. He could end up being a sneaky flex option.

Eagles | Darren Sproles expected back

Tue, 17 May 2016 11:07:13 -0700

Updating a previous report, Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles has been in contact with head coach Doug Pederson. Pederson fully expects Sproles to return for mandatory camps in June. Sproles has not been participating in organized team activities.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles should eventually be on the football field, especially when games begin to count. He's been a point-per-reception monster throughout his career and should be drafted as a RB3 in PPR leagues.

Eagles | Darren Sproles absent from OTAs

Tue, 17 May 2016 08:15:41 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles is absent from organized team activities as the team has fielded trade offers for him. The team received calls in the middle of the NFL draft about Sproles, according to sources.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles turns 33 next month and averaged 3.8 yards per carry last season, which was just above his career low. He still caught 55 passes, though, and could be a decent RB4 in PPR leagues wherever he lands.

Eagles | Darren Sproles to be traded?

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 10:50:05 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles could be traded this offseason, in the opinion of NJ.com's Elliot Shorr-Parks. Shorr-Parks views Sproles as a logical and likely trade candidate, with Ryan Mathews and Kenjon Barner as the two running backs who will make the final roster.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles would be a valuable asset to any NFL backfield, and it would make sense for the Eagles to trade him if they want another draft pick after trading away so many for the No. 2 overall pick this year. Mathews figures to be the primary ball carrier for now, and he has RB2 upside if he can stay healthy.

Eagles | Darren Sproles may miss camp

Mon, 18 Apr 2016 07:41:23 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles may miss the minicamp this week due to a family issue.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles' fantasy value hinges a lot on what the Eagles do in the draft as they're believed to be salivating at Ohio State RB Ezekiel Elliott. Sproles will be 33 this season, and he doesn't have a lot of value outside of PPR leagues. He could still be a solid RB4 or better in PPR leagues, though.

Eagles | Darren Sproles staying put?

Sun, 21 Feb 2016 11:01:35 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles is expected to be retained this offseason, according CSNPhilly.com's Reuben Frank and Dave Zangaro. Sproles will count $4.5 million against the salary cap if kept, but he is deemed to be too valuable to release.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles adds another dimension to Philadelphia's offense and has proven to be one of the more dynamic pass-catching running backs in the NFL. His usage may not be exactly the same under new head coach Doug Pederson, but he still has RB2 potential in PPR leagues.

Eagles | Darren Sproles might see more passes

Sat, 23 Jan 2016 15:54:57 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles might be featured more in the passing game under new head coach Doug Pederson.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles will still be behind DeMarco Murray and Ryan Mathews on the depth chart, but his fantasy value could increase a tick as Pederson tries to use Sproles more.

Eagles | DeMarco Murray plays eight snaps

Mon, 21 Dec 2015 05:22:15 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray played just eight snaps (12% of the offense) Sunday, Dec. 20. RB Darren Sproles played 30 snaps (47%), and Ryan Mathews played 26 (41%).

Fantasy Tip: Murray can't be used in fantasy right now. Sproles and Mathews splitting the work hurts each other's value, but they are decent flex options.

Eagles | DeMarco Murray says he's fresh

Fri, 18 Dec 2015 09:38:13 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray has seen his role in the offense reduced drastically the last two weeks, and through 12 games this year he has just 174 carries compared to 287 rushes through 12 games with the Dallas Cowboys in 2014. As a result, Murray said it's the freshest he's been this time of year. Despite voicing his displeasure to owner Jeff Lurie two weeks ago, Murray said he's happy and committed to returning to the Eagles next year. Murray had 11 carries last week to RB Ryan Mathews' 13 and RB Darren Sproles' seven.

Fantasy Tip: It's clear now that Murray ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) isn't the lead back in Philly anymore, and Chip Kelly is going with a three-headed committee in the backfield. That makes it really tough to rely on any one rusher in this backfield, especially in Week 15 against the top-five defense of the Arizona Cardinals.

Eagles | Darren Sproles leads team in rushing

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 14:29:18 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles rushed for 41 yards and one touchdown on seven carries against the Buffalo Bills in Week 14. RB Ryan Mathews rushed for 38 yards on 13 carries, while RB DeMarco Murray rushed for 34 yards on 11 carries.

Fantasy Tip: The Eagles spread the carries between the three runners but none had great success on the ground. All three probably will continue to receive carries with Sproles possibly being the most value in terms of fantasy because of his ability to produce in the running and passing game.

Comment (0) | Share: Tweet!Share on Facebook | Source: The Associated Press

Eagles | DeMarco Murray expected to see reduced role

Sun, 13 Dec 2015 08:39:43 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray will be active for Week 14's game against the Buffalo Bills, although the team considered benching him after he vented to owner Jeffrey Lurie about his role in head coach Chip Kelly's offense following their victory over the New England Patriots in Week 13. RB Darren Sproles is expected to have a prominent role in the offense versus Buffalo and could wind up receiving more carries than Murray.

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) has gained just 54 rushing yards over the past two weeks and should be avoided in all fantasy formats this week due to his anticipated reduced role and lack of production. He will be one of four running backs active for the Eagles against Buffalo, along with Sproles ($3,600, 7.2% of cap), Ryan Mathews ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) and Kenjon Barner ($2,400, 4.8% of cap). Sproles warrants consideration as a flex player in FantasyScore and Mathews is also expected to see a decent number of snaps in his return from a concussion but Barner has no fantasy value.

Eagles | DeMarco Murray no longer lead back?

Tue, 08 Dec 2015 10:42:05 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray may no longer be the team's lead running back, especially with RB Ryan Mathews (concussion) returning to practice Tuesday, Dec. 8. Offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur did not confirm that Murray was still the leading running back, and the Eagles remain confident in all of their running backs. Murray had just eight carries for 24 yards in the win over the New England Patriots in Week 13, fewer than RBs Darren Sproles and Kenjon Barner.

Fantasy Tip: With the Eagles non-committal on Murray's ($4,800, 9.6% of cap) status in the backfield or workload, you'll want to avoid him on FantasyScore against the Buffalo Bills this weekend. In fact, staying away from this backfield entirely might be the best plan with Mathews ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) on his way back.

Eagles | DeMarco Murray sees limited action

Mon, 07 Dec 2015 07:09:43 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray played just 14 snaps Sunday, Dec. 6, and had eight carries against the New England Patriots. Murray averaged 36 snaps per game before Sunday. His previous low this season was 25. RB Darren Sproles had 15 carries, the third-most of his career and his most since he had 18 in 2009. RB Kenjon Barner had nine carries, which was a career high. Head coach Chip Kelly explained the distribution of carries by saying he believed that the smaller, faster Barner and Sproles would be better matchups for the Eagles against the Patriots' larger linebackers.

Fantasy Tip: This could be a one-game ordeal, but Sproles had 66 yards on 15 carries and four grabs for 34 yards. It's a situation that's worth monitoring as the Eagles prepare for Buffalo Bills in Week 14.

Eagles | Darren Sproles wants the ball

Thu, 19 Nov 2015 06:51:52 -0800

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles wants more opportunities in the offense. Sproles has averaged 2.9 catches or 24.4 yards per game in Philadelphia. "I'm not getting enough chances," Sproles said. "They got me more in there to run routes. DeMarco (Murray) and Ryan (Mathews) get the bulk of the carries. To get in a rhythm you need more touches. That's for any kind of player."

Fantasy Tip: Sproles ($4,000, 8.0% of cap) could be a dark horse this week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but his futile workload thus far has to be a concern for FantasyScore usage.

Eagles | RBs share work in Philadelphia

Tue, 20 Oct 2015 06:48:18 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB DeMarco Murray played 44 snaps (56% of the offense) Monday, Oct. 19, in Week 6. RB Darren Sproles played 24 snaps (31%) and RB Ryan Mathews played 19 snaps (24%).

Fantasy Tip: Murray ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) eclipsed 100 yards finally, but it could be short-lived as the Eagles play the Carolina Panthers in Week 7. Murray is a low-end RB1 on FantasyScore. Sproles ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) could be a flex option, but he hasn't been utilized enough to be a comfortable option.

Eagles | Darren Sproles checks out fine

Mon, 19 Oct 2015 22:18:05 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles (head) left the Week 6 game against the New York Giants due to a head injury. He was evaluated for concussion after hitting his head on the turf, and cleared to return.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles ($4,400, 8.8% of cap) was a non-factor in the offense, touching the ball three times for seven total yards. As long as DeMarco Murray ($7,200, 14.4% of cap) and Ryan Mathews ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) remain healthy Sproles isn't much of an option for FantasyScore players, especially at this price level.

Eagles | Ryan Mathews' role uncertain

Mon, 28 Sep 2015 11:56:19 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews led the team in carries in Week 3, but head coach Chip Kelly said he is not sure if Mathews deserves a majority of the carries in Week 4 against the Washington Redskins. Kelly said Mathews, DeMarco Murray and Darren Sproles all fit perfectly in the offense.

Fantasy Tip: Mathews rushed for 108 yards in the Week 3, while Sproles helped out in the running and passing game. It is not known if DeMarco Murray will be able to play in Week 4, so the roles for all of the running backs are uncertain at this point. Owners will need to follow the situation during the week to have a better idea how they will be used.

Eagles | Ryan Mathews in line to start?

Wed, 23 Sep 2015 12:18:41 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Ryan Mathews would likely start at running back in Week 3 against the New York Jets if RB DeMarco Murray (hamstring) can't suit up. RB Darren Sproles is also available.

Fantasy Tip: The Eagles offense has sputtered out of the gates, and a Murray ($6,700, 13.4% of cap) injury doesn't help matters. He now becomes even less desirable to daily gamers. Mathews ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) would be a weak play, too, even if he starts against a strong Jets defensive front. Sproles ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) would present a fine buy-low opportunity as the Eagles might look to exploit this strong defense with short passes.

Eagles | Darren Sproles shines on MNF

Mon, 14 Sep 2015 22:10:34 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles carried five times for 50 yards in the Week 1 game against Atlanta Falcons Monday, Sept. 14, and he added seven receptions for 76 yards.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles ($4,200, 8.4% of cap) was the most effective runner in the three-headed backfield for the Eagles, but don't expect that to be the case every week. Still, he isn't a bad FantasyScore option as an RB2 or flex play at a mid-level price.

Eagles | Darren Sproles working in slot

Sat, 08 Aug 2015 08:52:36 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles has received some snaps at slot receiver during training camp, because the team is looking for ways to give him more playing time. Sproles was on the field for only 29% of the team's offensive snaps last season.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles would receive a boost in his fantasy value if he becomes more involved in the passing game, but owners should see how he is used during the preseason. Sproles probably will have more value in point-per-reception leagues, but he could still be a late-round option in many leagues.

Eagles | Mark Sanchez holding workouts

Fri, 10 Jul 2015 09:40:16 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles QB Mark Sanchez is hosting workouts in San Diego with teammates. RB Darren Sproles, RB Ryan Mathews, WR Jordan Matthews, QB Matt Barkley, QB/WR G.J. Kinne, WR Quron Pratt, WR Rasheed Bailey, WR Seyi Ajirotutu and TE Andrew Gleichert were in attendance.

Fantasy Tip: Sanchez is likely to take a backseat once Sam Bradford returns to health, but he's not going to make it easy. Sanchez doesn't have as much upside as Bradford, but he'd be a midrange QB2 if he is able to nab the starting job.

Saints | C.J. Spiller a good fit in New Orleans?

Sun, 28 Jun 2015 17:52:44 -0700

New Orleans Saints RB C.J. Spiller has a perfect skill-set for head coach Sean Payton's system, which relies on getting the ball to players in space, according Chris Wesseling of NFL.com. Wesseling believes Spiller is significantly more talented than RB Reggie Bush and RB Darren Sproles, who both thrived in Payton's system.

Fantasy Tip: Pass-catching backs like Spiller have enjoyed a lot of success in Payton's system. He has a good chance to slide into RB2 territory in PPR formats, and he should make a solid flex option in standard leagues.

Eagles | Darren Sproles working as WR

Fri, 19 Jun 2015 18:26:27 -0700

Philadelphia Eagles RB Darren Sproles has worked with the wide receivers as much as the running backs during the offseason as part of a plan by head coach Chip Kelly to have him more involved in the offense.

Fantasy Tip: Sproles' days of being a RB1 in PPR formats are long gone, but he could end up being a useful flex option in 2015. However, there are a lot of mouths to feed in Philadelphia, so don't draft Sproles to be an every-week starter.
