Updating a previous report, the Philadelphia Eagles signed DE Trent Cole to a four-year extension worth just over $53 million with $15 million in guaranteed money.

Philadelphia Eagles DL Trent Cole believes the team was close to becoming great in 2011, and feels the Eagles will get over the hump in 2012. "We had a bad year. We just couldn't pull it off at the last minute," Cole said. "Andy's a great coach ... We were right there, inches away from being great, being a dominant, dominant team. I think some teams are going to be worried about playing us" in 2012.

Philadelphia Eagles DL Trent Cole picked up his 10th sack of the season in Week 16 against the Dallas Cowboys. DL Jason Babin has 18 sacks, giving the Eagles their first pair of defenders with double-digit sacks totals since DLs William Fuller and Andy Harmon accomplished the feat in 1995.

Philadelphia Eagles DL Trent Cole said Wednesday, Dec. 7, that he was fined $7,500 for his take down of Seattle Seahawks OT Russell Okung (triceps) in Week 13, which ended his season. "I'm not a dirty player," Cole said. "At the time, all the stuff that led up to that, there was a lot of stuff that happened in the game."
