Jason La Canfora, of The Washington Post, reports Washington Redskins TE Manuel White (knee) tore his meniscus in practice Saturday, Sept. 9. He will undergo surgery on his knee and the extent of his absence will be determined after surgery.

Gary Fitzgerald, of Redskins.com, reports Washington Redskins FB Manuel White (leg), who missed all of 2005 with a broken fibula, is excited to return to the field. With his leg now at 100 percent, White will need to compete with FB Nehemiah Broughton, the team's seventh-round draft choice, to back up FB Mike Sellers. Also, he might need to play well on the special teams to get the roster spot he wants.
