Washington Redskins head coach Jim Zorn said during his press conference at the NFL Scouting Combine Friday, Feb. 22, that it was important to hire Sherman Smith as the offensive coordinator because Smith has a strong history and experience as a running backs coach. Zorn, who has a quarterback background, felt it was important to find a strong minded running coach.

The Associated Press reports the Washington Redskins hired Sherman Smith as the team's new offensive coordinator Friday, Feb. 15. Smith was the running backs coach with the Tennessee Titans since 1995. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
